The 4th qualifying round of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup 2025 will take place today (May 22) at Nguyen Du Stadium (District 1). Vietnam Billiards has a total of 8 players on the field in this round. Among them, the faces that have passed the 3rd qualifying round include: Nguyen Hoai Phong, Dao Van Ly, Nguyen Nhu Le, Doan Minh Kiet and Nguyen Dinh Quoc. Meanwhile, Tran Duc Minh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Chiem Hong Thai are the 3 names that are predetermined to appear from the 4th qualifying round, based on their positions on the rankings of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB).
8 Vietnamese players compete in the 4th qualifying round of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup
Tran Duc Minh is the reigning champion of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup, having won the title at Nguyen Du Stadium exactly one year ago. Duc Minh is in Group I with Omer Karakurt (Turkey) and Choi Wan-young (South Korea). Duc Minh will not play in the first match of the group. The Hue native will start at 2:30 p.m., then play the next match at 5:30 p.m.
Chiem Hong Thai is in Group A with Sergio Jimenez (Spain) and Volkan Cetin (Netherlands). The player born in 1999 will start at 1pm, and play the decisive match at 4pm. Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu is in Group H with his compatriot Nguyen Nhu Le and Nikos Polychro (Greece). Thanh Tu will start at 11:30am, meeting Nhu Le.

Many world-class players on the field
The 4th qualifying round of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup featured many excellent players, especially Frederic Caudron. The Belgian player currently holds 21 World Cup Billiards championship titles. However, since leaving the PBA to return to the UMB tournament system (in May 2024, also at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup), the genius Caudron has yet to win a single title.
Caudron is in Group G with Hwang Bong-joo (South Korea) and Mikael (France). The Belgian player will play in two time slots: 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Caudron has won 21 World Cup stages, including the championship in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the fourth qualifying round also has other outstanding players Jeremy Bury (France), Kim Haeng-jik (Korea), Glenn Hofman (Netherlands), Roland Forthomme (Belgium). Of these, Kim Haeng-jik and Forthomme are two players who have won the World Cup. Kim Haeng-jik has won the title three times, while Forthomme has won the title twice at this tournament.
In the 4th qualifying round of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup 2025, 36 players are divided equally into 12 groups, competing in a round-robin format to calculate points and rank. The matches are played to 40 points, with equal turns (with a draw). The 12 players ranked first in the group, along with the 3 players ranked second with the best results, will win tickets to the main round (round of 32) of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup 2025.

The 'living legend' of 3-cushion carom billiards in the world - Torbjorn Blomdahl completely ruptured his right Achilles tendon while playing padel for fun. The Swedish player is expected to miss 3 World Cup billiards. In turn, the Ho Chi Minh City leg is taking place at Nguyen Du Stadium (District 1), then the World Cup billiards in Ankara (Turkey) and Porto (Portugal) and next to it is the 2025 World Games arena in China.
Because Blomdahl did not participate, Vietnamese player Nguyen Dinh Quoc had a lucky ticket to the third qualifying round.
