The Vietnam U23 team, as the defending champions, will enter the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship with the opening match against Laos U23 on the afternoon of August 20, within the framework of Group C. Although participating in the tournament with the core of 20-year-old players, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team are still highly appreciated. Before participating in the tournament, the team played a friendly match in a closed format with Bahrain U23. Although they lost to their opponents in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes of official play, the coaching staff was quite satisfied with the spirit and expertise of the players.
