Despite leaving many marks at Inter Miami, Lionel Messi does not see this as his final destination but will return to his childhood club Newell's Old Boys before ending his career.

However, the Argentine superstar does not see Inter Miami as his final destination. According to El Nacional, the number 10 superstar intends to leave Inter Miami after his contract expires in 2025.
Messi will then return to his boyhood club Newell's Old Boys before ending his career there. In the past, El Pulga spent 6 years with Newell's Old Boys before moving to Barcelona's La Masia training academy in 2000.
It can be said that Newell's Old Boys is the launching pad for Messi's talent to rise. However, the Argentine superstar has not yet fulfilled his wish to wear the Newell's Old Boys' first team shirt to compete in the Argentine championship. After a period of great success in Europe, Messi wants to complete this wish before retiring.
During his time at Inter Miami, Messi helped the club win the Leagues Cup. Recently, he missed out and could not play in the final of the American Cup. In the end, El Pulga sadly watched Inter Miami lose to Houston Dynamo and lose the second consecutive title.
After the match, coach Tata Martino admitted the reason for leaving Messi on the bench: "Obviously, letting Messi play was an imprudent decision. We cannot risk his health.
But for sure, Messi will return before the end of the season. We will consult with the medical team about Messi's condition, before making a final decision."
