The race between Messi and Ronaldo continues
David Beckham made a statement about Messi on the day the 38-year-old Argentinian star signed a new contract with Inter Miami until December 2028. Shortly after, Messi scored a brace to help Inter Miami win convincingly against Nashville SC with a 3-1 scoreline in their first match of the MLS Cup playoff round on October 25th.

"In 2023, we brought the greatest player in history to play this sport to our city. Today, I'm delighted that he's still as dedicated as ever and still wants to wear the pink shirt of Inter Miami and play for our team," David Beckham shared on Instagram on the day Messi signed his new contract with Inter Miami.
David Beckham also emphasized Messi's influence on the development of soccer in the US and the growth of new generations of players, noting that the Argentinian star is inspiring and completely transforming the face of American soccer.
"David Beckham's pride and constant praise for Messi seems to be aimed at Ronaldo's weakness, regarding the long-standing rivalry between these two famous players," Marca expressed.
Before Messi, Ronaldo also extended his contract with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia until June 2027, at the age of 42. Messi recently, and not long before that, both confirmed they are in excellent form and ready for the 2026 World Cup. That would be the sixth World Cup of their careers, a feat no one else has ever achieved.
Messi just scored a brace and provided an assist for Inter Miami in their 3-1 win against Nashville SC, bringing his tally to 12 goals and 9 assists in just the last 8 games. American journalist Tom Bogert exclaimed: "It's unbelievable how impressive Messi's form is, especially considering he's 38 years old!"

However, Ronaldo is equally impressive. The 40-year-old Portuguese star continued his scoring form, helping Al Nassr remain unbeaten in the 2025-2026 season with a 2-0 victory over Al Hazm on October 26th. Al Nassr solidified their position at the top of the Saudi Pro League table with six wins out of six matches (18 points), three points ahead of second-placed Al Taawoun FC.
Ronaldo currently has 950 career goals. This includes 34 goals and 3 assists in 38 matches in 2025. The star is getting closer to the milestone of 1,000 career goals.
Meanwhile, Messi has now scored 891 goals and provided 299 assists in his career. He also holds the record for scoring more than 40 goals in 13 different calendar years.
The Argentinian star has just won the MLS (Major League Soccer) top scorer award with 29 goals in 28 matches for the 2025 regular season. This title also makes Messi the strongest candidate to win the MLS Player of the Season award for the second consecutive year, setting a historic record in the league.
