To recreate the historical context of the war at Quang Tri Citadel, the film crew built a studio in Quang Tri province, along the Thach Han River. A version of the Citadel was recreated most realistically in terms of geography and shape with a system of trenches, tunnels, field meeting rooms, etc., as well as the location of surgical stations, defensive fortifications, and field airports - all of which were meticulously and seriously restored under the advice of veterans and witnesses who had fought directly at the Citadel.
