Drama at the national U.21 tournament
With 3 points after 2 matches, U.21 PVF-CAND faced U.21 TP.HCM with the goal of winning at least 1 point to advance to the quarterfinals. On the other side, the home team also really needed a win to hope not to be eliminated early on their home field. PVF-CAND was the better team and scored the first goal in the 60th minute.

After a well-organized attack, Nguyen Van Bach crossed for Tran Khanh Hung to tap the ball in close to the goal, scoring the goal. Pushed into a difficult situation, Ho Chi Minh City Football Club tried to raise their formation to attack. In the extra minutes of the second half, the home team equalized the score after a long-range shot by Vo Tuan Phong.
In the remaining match, U.21 Da Nang and SLNA drew 0-0. SHB Da Nang controlled the ball better while SLNA played slowly and steadily to aim for a draw. In that match, Mr. Dao Quang Hung's team had more clear scoring opportunities. However, SHB Da Nang's strikers could not convert them into goals, and had to accept 1 point against SLNA.
At the end of the group stage, U.21 Da Nang ranked first in the group. PVF-CAND and SLNA both had 4 points, but PVF-CAND ranked second due to a better head-to-head record. With the 2 first and second places, SHB Da Nang and PVF-CAND won 2 tickets from group A to the quarterfinals.
Ranked third with 4 points, SLNA has also secured 1 of 2 tickets for the third-placed team with the best record because the two teams in Group C, Dong Thap and Dak Lak, currently have no points after 2 matches.
