According to the Telegraph, Jack Grealish will not be included in Man City's 2025 FIFA Club World Cup journey. The Citizens' board of directors as well as the English star himself determined that participating in the tournament is not beneficial to future plans.
In the final game of the season against Fulham, in which Grealish did not play, manager Pep Guardiola revealed that there would be a meeting between the club and the 29-year-old's representatives to find a solution. Grealish is no longer in Pep's team-building plans, having only started 17 matches in the past two seasons, but still wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup. Therefore, Man City is ready to support by finding a new destination, where he can play more and rediscover his best form.
However, this process will be difficult. Having cost Man City £100 million in transfer fees and a salary of £300,000 a week, it is not easy to find a club willing to take Grealish. The most feasible option is still to send him on loan, with Man City still paying part of the salary.
In a recent statement, coach Thomas Tuchel still left the door open for Grealish to join the England team. He praised the personality and qualities of the 29-year-old star, and said he was ready to wait. As for Man City, they are speeding up the negotiation process to buy midfielder Tijjani Reijnders of AC Milan and striker Rayan Cherki of Lyon, hoping to complete the contract soon in time for the FIFA Club World Cup. The Citizens will play their opening match against Wydad AC of Morocco on June 18.
