Improve the quality of living environment
Mr. Lam Van Hong, Chairman of Long Dien District People's Committee said: In recent times, thanks to the good exploitation of the coastline, especially the right investment and development of the fisheries sector, the exploitation and processing of seafood in Long Dien district has contributed significantly to the socio -economic growth of the locality. In particular, seafood processing activities in Long Dien district have been associated with local people for generations, helping people have a source of income, improve their lives, thereby creating livelihoods for people to escape poverty sustainably.
However, this seafood processing activity of the people has to face the problem of environmental pollution in the area. The main reason is that the production facilities are mainly small-scale, owned by households and individuals, and the facilities almost do not build waste treatment systems that meet environmental standards.
Therefore, to control environmental quality, Long Dien District People's Committee has increased coordination with the province's functional departments to focus on propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on environmental protection (EP) in many forms to each facility and household operating in seafood processing.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Long Dien district requires seafood processing establishments and households to sign environmental protection commitments; must ensure that all waste generated during operations is collected and treated according to regulations; strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle violations of environmental protection laws according to regulations.
“Thanks to the implementation of many environmental protection solutions, up to now, most seafood processing facilities in Long Dien district have invested in wastewater treatment systems in accordance with regulations and are aware of implementing environmental protection measures. In addition, the quality of the living environment in neighboring residential areas has been significantly improved; in particular, the lives of the majority of people have also been improved, contributing to helping the locality achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction,” added Mr. Lam Van Hong.
Sustainable poverty reduction efforts
According to the People's Committee of Long Dien district, to help local people escape poverty and gradually stabilize their lives, Long Dien district has provided timely loans for poor households to invest and develop production, contributing to increasing income and improving life.

Currently, the whole Long Dien district has only 2% of members and poor households, down more than 7% compared to 2018. Many members and households have an income of 200 million VND/year or more, some households have an income of more than 1 billion VND/year.

In particular, the district's annual budget revenue has increased, the growth rate of important economic sectors such as trade, tourism , industry, and aquaculture has annually reached and exceeded the set plan.
In the period of 2021-2025, Long Dien district will continue to encourage the development of new occupations that meet market demand, promote economic restructuring in rural areas, create more jobs, increase income for people, and aim to build advanced new rural areas; At the same time, focus on completing investment procedures for concentrated seafood processing clusters to relocate facilities out of residential areas towards an increasingly green - clean - beautiful environment, harmoniously combining socio-economic development with environmental protection, serving sustainable development.
Infrastructure, electricity, roads, schools, and medical centers have been repaired and newly built to meet the needs of the people; the traffic system has been paved with asphalt and concrete; 100% of households have access to clean water and hygienic water; the environment is green, clean, and beautiful.
