People in Con Cuong commune ( Nghe An ) use boats to move because their houses are flooded almost up to the roof.

On the afternoon of July 23, SGGP Newspaper reporters traveled up National Highway 7A to the flooded areas of Muong Xen, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong,...

Along National Highway 7A, the army, police, and authorities of Nghe An province continuously sent more forces and vehicles to flood-affected areas to help people.

However, when reaching the Bong pass (in Con Cuong commune), the water rushed back, rising unexpectedly high and fast. The authorities blocked the road, forcing the vehicles to turn around, only the forces on duty were allowed to stay and stand guard at the head of the flooded area.

In Vinh Hoan village (Con Cuong commune), water from the Lam River is rushing into the village. In no time, the water rose to almost the roof of the house. The people here are mobilizing boats for transportation. They said that since about 11pm on July 22, people have been moving their belongings; however, households have only been able to move essential items, many items and rice are submerged in the flood.

In Ban Pha village (in the same Con Cuong commune), Ms. Le Thi Thin and everyone else are bringing a herd of pigs to the main road, because the water is rising very quickly. She said that she was only able to save the pigs, but many belongings were lost. She said, "If you want to find them now, go down to Ben Thuy bridge", meaning that the belongings have drifted down the Lam River.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Van Son (from Ban Pha village) is still in shock, saying: “I am 65 years old, but I have never seen a flood that rose so quickly and so big. Because I did not expect it, all my belongings and rice were soaked in water. Even the newborn buffalo could not be brought up high enough, now it is tied at the foot of a rocky mountain, and the rocky mountain is vertical, and one side is flooded, I do not know how to handle it.”

While the reporter was working, a local resident told him to quickly return to the main road because the water was rising too quickly. When he returned to Khe Diem bridge (Con Cuong commune), the roofs of the houses below the bridge were gradually sinking into the water. The section of National Highway 7A from Khe Diem bridge to Vinh, which had been dry before, was now flooded.
