Madam Pang fires Thailand U.17 coach after shocking defeat in Asian tournament

On the afternoon of April 10, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), chaired by Madam Pang (billionaire Nualphan Lamsam), decided to fire coach Jadet Meelarp because the country's U.17 team was eliminated from the Asian tournament after losing all three matches.

Madam Pang was disappointed because the U.17 Thailand team left early with 3 consecutive losses.

The Thai U.17 team received a huge investment from Madam Pang, including creating the best conditions during the preparation process and strengthening the force such as the excellent young player Silva Mexes from the U.18 team of MU Club in England. However, the team did not compete successfully at the 2025 AFC U.17 Championship with 3 losses in the group stage, quickly shattering the dream of winning a ticket to the U.17 World Cup in November this year.

According to coach Jadet Meelarp: "The U.17 Thailand team is still far behind its Asian opponents in terms of physique and fitness. The team needs a revolution in terms of strength to be able to compete and go further in the Asian tournament."

However, this view of coach Jadet Meelarp is not suitable for Madam Pang, who believes that the Thai U.17 team still has a lot of potential to explore and develop. Therefore, after losing to the Chinese U.17 team with a score of 0-2 on April 10, ending the group stage of the U.17 Asian Cup with 3 losses, scoring only 2 goals and conceding 9 goals, FAT announced their farewell to this coach.

"FAT would like to thank Jadet Meelarp and the coaching staff of the Thailand U17 team. All the U17 players have shown their commitment and dedication, before the decision to end the role of head coach of the team after the final match at the AFC U17 Championship in Saudi Arabia.

FAT would like to send our best wishes to the entire team, as well as future success. From now on, the federation's technical department will consider and search for a new head coach for the Thailand U.17 team. Please continue to try your best," FAT's message posted on April 10 on its Facebook account.

Coach Jadet Meelarp was appointed by FAT to lead the Thailand U.17 team 1 year ago, with high expectations that he would help the team win a ticket to the 2025 U.17 World Cup finals in Qatar this November.

However, this hope was completely defeated. FAT President, Madam Pang was extremely disappointed. In the context, other Southeast Asian teams such as U.17 Indonesia soon got tickets to the quarterfinals and a place at the World Cup. The U.17 Vietnam team also has a chance to continue with the decisive match against the U.17 UAE team at 10:00 p.m. on April 10.
