Man City re-established a 4-point gap with Arsenal, after winning 3-0 at Everton's home ground in round 36 of the Premier League, on the evening of May 14.
Gundogan scored twice (37', 51'). Haaland scored the remaining goal for Man City (39'). To save energy for the second leg of the semi-final against Real Madrid, coach Pep Guardiola left De Bruyne, John Stones, Bernardo Silva, and Grealish on the bench. However, the away team still controlled the game. The goals came consecutively at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half, helping Man City play comfortably until the end of the match.
This victory helps Man City widen the gap with Arsenal to 4 points, at the same time putting pressure on the Gunners in the match against Brighton.
