Recently, in Hanoi , a female customer who ordered clothes online, after transferring payment to an account provided by a person claiming to be a shipper, received a message notifying her that her “membership card was successfully activated”. The maintenance fee of 4.6 million VND per month will be automatically deducted from the customer’s account if the subscription is not canceled.
The message title was "(TB) BUU DIEN VIET NAM" which made the female customer mistakenly think that this was information sent by Vietnam Post Corporation.
The scammer then continued to “set a trap” by sending a series of messages instructing users to access the link, asking them to perform the steps of “cancelling the card” and “receiving money back”. The victim panicked and continuously transferred money according to the request for “complaint fee”, “verification fee”… and was scammed out of a total of 200 million VND.
Notably, to increase credibility, the scammer also texted the victim to instruct them to go to the Vietnam Post Office headquarters and contact the customer service department via a fake hotline number to file a complaint and demand compensation.

According to Vietnam Post, this is a sophisticated scam, preying on customers' trust and lack of vigilance, causing public confusion and seriously damaging the business's reputation as well as consumer confidence.
Vietnam Post said it does not issue any type of membership or membership cards; it does not require customers to access links or scan QR codes to cancel cards.
Postal workers always wear uniforms, carry employee identification cards, proactively contact before delivery and absolutely do not require advance payment.
Vietnam Post recommends that customers always be vigilant against any messages or calls claiming to be from “post office staff” with unusual requests; absolutely do not transfer money or pay any amount or fee before receiving the goods; do not access strange links, especially links that request information or payment; do not provide personal information or account numbers to strangers.
In case of suspicion, immediately refuse to perform and stop interacting with the subjects, and contact the hotline: 1900545481, Fanpage Vietnam Post - Vietnam Post for the fastest support or report to the nearest police agency for handling.
