According to Reuters, Airbus has just discovered quality defects in some metal panels on the A320 fuselage, causing some aircraft delivery schedules to be delayed. Fortunately, these aircraft have not yet been put into operation and commercial exploitation.
Airbus announced: "The company has discovered a quality issue affecting some metal panels of the A320 family of aircraft," and affirmed that "the cause has been identified and controlled, all new metal panels produced fully meet requirements."
Airbus discovered the new problem just days after the largest A320 recall and software update in its history, to address the potential for solar radiation problems that affected a JetBlue flight. About half of the global A320 fleet was grounded for the upgrade.
This negative news caused Airbus shares to plunge 11% in the first session of the week. Although there was a slight recovery later, the close of nearly 6% was enough to wipe out billions of dollars in market capitalization of this corporation in just a few hours.

In the country, right after the information from Airbus, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam held an urgent meeting at night with Vietnamese airlines. According to the airlines' quick reports at 5:30 a.m. on November 29, 81/169 A320 and A321 aircraft were affected.
By 3:00 p.m. on November 30, VietjetAir said it had quickly completed updating 69 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft, nearly 4 hours ahead of the deadline set by authorities and Airbus.
Similarly, Vietnam Airlines announced that its entire fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft had completed the required software update. The aircraft are now back in operation.
Airbus has delivered hundreds of aircraft by the end of November but is still far from its target of “around 820” for the year. To reach that target, the company needs to deliver more than 160 aircraft in December alone – an unprecedented level of production.
