"Orders have not been accepted. Production of the current generation Mercedes-Benz CLS will end in August 2023 to make way for the new E-Class," a Mercedes-Benz Australia spokesperson said.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS debuted in 2002 and quickly became a success for the German automaker. Its unique and eye-catching design attracted customers looking for a change from the traditional sedan and coupe body styles. It was also one of the first models to introduce the four-door coupe concept before other manufacturers adopted it.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS has gone through three generations in its nearly 20-year history. Each successive generation has built on the success of the previous model. The current generation was launched five years ago.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is no longer listed on the Mercedes-Benz Australia website. It is unlikely that the Mercedes-Benz CLS will be replaced, as the E-Class already has an electric version alongside the EQE, a new coupe-styled car similar to this model. Meanwhile, there is no information indicating that the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS has been tested. Therefore, the EQE is expected to take over the CLS, aiming for the future with a commitment to sustainable, zero-emission vehicles.

However, according to Mercedes-Benz USA’s website, the CLS is technically still available in the US. Like Australia, it’s possible that they just represent the remaining CLS inventory in dealerships nationwide. Notably, the CLS is currently only available in 450 4Matic trim, while the CLS 53 AMG has been dropped from the local lineup for 2022.
