A new scam campaign is targeting TikTok users via direct messages, according to Forbes. Fraudsters impersonate terminally ill people, promise to give away cryptocurrency and send a link to receive the gift.
The fake website displays a large balance and a “withdraw” button designed to look like the real interface of the cryptocurrency exchange. Users are required to enter a “security code” or pay a “VIP upgrade” fee to receive the bonus.
In reality, these fees all go into the scammer's pocket and the victim gets nothing. This trick is more sophisticated than before, hitting the greed and curiosity of social network users. Cyber security experts recommend absolutely not accessing strange links or transferring money to "unlock transactions".
If you accidentally clicked on the link, you need to change your password, enable 2FA authentication and report the offending account to TikTok immediately. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Many scams using AI technology are on the rise | News 141
