Realizing that the local source of plantation wood is large, especially plantation wood on the islands of Thac Ba lake, and the abundant local labor force, the family of Mr. Tuong Van Quy, Dong Ty village, Yen Thanh commune boldly invested in opening a plywood processing workshop.

Thanks to hard work and finding a market, for over 10 years now, Mr. Quy's family's plywood processing workshop has been developing steadily. The workshop consumes about 20 m3 of raw wood every day and maintains regular jobs for 6 local workers with salaries ranging from 6 million VND to 10 million VND/person/month.
Mr. Quy is one of the typical farmers in the locality, not only enriching his family but also creating jobs for local people.
Mr. Quy shared: “The supply of local plantation wood is increasing in quantity and quality, so in the near future, my family will open another plywood processing workshop. This is also a way to increase solidarity among villagers and among farmer association members in the commune.”
Taking advantage of the water surface of Thac Ba Lake, in recent years, Ms. Tuong Thi Thu, Dong Ty village, Yen Thanh commune has also invested in raising fish in cages. With 22 fish cages, on average, each year, Ms. Thu's family sells 15 - 25 tons of fish, deducting expenses, bringing in revenue of 200 - 250 million VND.
Realizing the effectiveness of cage fish farming on Thac Ba Lake, Ms. Thu encouraged villagers to follow suit; at the same time, she is willing to share and guide techniques and experiences for effective cage fish farming, helping households to become rich on their own homeland.
Ms. Thu shared: “In the near future, I hope to establish an aquaculture cooperative, then combine it with the development of experiential tourism. From there, members can share experiences and seek markets for the economy to develop more and more sustainably. Having the honor of being a delegate to the First Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lao Cai province, I am even more determined and motivated to further promote my role as the Head of the Farmers' Association of Dong Ty village.”
To develop the economy from his own hilly homeland, in recent years, Mr. Ha Kim Ty, Buong village, Nghia Tam commune has taken advantage of every area of land to plant forests.

Mr. Ty confided: “Since knowing how to plant forests to develop the economy, people no longer have to go far to work, nor do they have to burn their fields. They even know how to use the land under the canopy to grow more medicinal plants, increasing their family income.”
Currently, Lao Cai province has over 55,000 good farming and business households at all levels, of which 86 are at the central level and 1,151 are at the provincial level.

Through the movement, farmer members have helped thousands of households escape poverty, many households have become well-off and rich thanks to participating in the emulation movement "Farmers compete in production and good business, helping each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty.
For the movement to develop sustainably, the association at all levels has proactively coordinated with sectors and organizations to organize training, transfer scientific and technical advances, digital transformation in the field of agriculture and forestry, guide the construction of agroforestry models suitable to the practical situation at the grassroots level, build brands and trademarks for agricultural products, contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the province.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dong - Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association said: "The Association will continue to promote its role as the subject and center in rural economic development and new rural construction; promote propaganda for farmers to change their awareness from the mindset of purely agricultural production to the mindset of agricultural economics in accordance with the spirit of the Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress".
The association levels are currently bringing the movement of good production and business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty to a new level in the direction of enhancing value and brand worthy of the province's potential advantages; continuing to diversify competition forms by profession, field, and region, encouraging farmers to be creative and innovative; encouraging farmers to use digital technology applications in promotion, online sales, and participation in e-commerce platforms...

The movement “Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably” is one of the typical patriotic emulation movements. With the spirit of innovation, solidarity and responsibility, the Farmers’ Association of Lao Cai province continues to promote its core role, accompanying farmers in the development of agriculture and rural areas of the province.
