Metro Line 1 first test run on entire line, expected before September 2nd holiday

According to information from the Urban Railway Management Board, this unit and the contractor will conduct a test run of the entire metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). The test run is scheduled to take place on August 31, before the September 2 holiday.

Accordingly, metro line No. 1 will start running from Suoi Tien station to Ben Thanh station and vice versa. This is the first time metro line No. 1 has tested the entire route.

The number of passengers will be limited to a maximum of 20 people and the test run will be conducted according to the contractor's procedures. To ensure safety, the contractor will conduct a safety assessment, limit the number of staff and propose many emergency solutions in the tunnel.

Metro line No. 1 has also had many test runs at Long Binh depot on each elevated section, the farthest being from Suoi Tien station to Binh Thai station.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport estimated that the ticket price for metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will be from 12,000 - 18,000 VND/trip.

Specifically, the lowest ticket price for a 5km route is 12,000 VND and for a route over 15km is 18,000 VND. In addition, a 1-day ticket costs 40,000 VND, a 3-day ticket costs 90,000 VND, and a monthly ticket costs 260,000 VND.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board announced the plan and key tasks related to the metro line 1 project and strived to complete construction by the end of 2023 and put it into commercial operation in 2024.

The total volume of metro line 1 project has reached nearly 96% so far. However, the total public investment plan for 2023 assigned to the project is more than VND 4,688 billion, of which only VND 858.75 billion (18.4%) has been disbursed so far.

As planned, the construction warranty period of contractors is from 2024 to the end of 2025. Operation and maintenance support period is from 2024 to 2028.

In order to ensure the completion progress of the metro line 1 project, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board will accelerate the remaining construction works such as: completing the installation of electromechanical system equipment of contractor CP3, selecting consultants and implementing system safety assessment, conducting testing, operation and trial exploitation for each section and the entire line...

All of the above content is aimed at the common goal of completing the construction of metro line 1 in 2023.

Ben Thanh underground metro station is 99% complete.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on August 16, Mr. Ngo Quoc Kiet - architectural manager of Ben Thanh station - said that up to now, the entire architecture of Ben Thanh station has been completed by more than 99%, almost all basic items have been completed and are in the process of repairing minor errors such as scratches.

In the coming time, contractors will coordinate to complete the electromechanical part, as well as a small part of the remaining architectural and interior items of the station. In the future, this underground station will be the connection point of metro lines 2, 3a and number 4.
