Microsoft has officially "killed" Windows 10 since October 15, which means the company will stop all security patch updates and users will face the risk of being attacked by hackers and breaking into their computers if security holes appear.
Although it has been released for more than 10 years, Windows 10 is still estimated to have more than 700 million users worldwide. The reasons why many users still want to stick with Windows 10 and not want to upgrade to the newer Windows 11 is because this operating system has a friendly interface, runs smoothly even on low-configuration computers...
However, Microsoft is expressing concern that users could face a “security disaster” if they continue to stick with Windows 10.

The tech giant has stressed that ending support for older software like Windows 10 will leave users' systems unprotected. According to internal reports, up to 90% of ransomware attacks target devices running outdated operating systems that lack security patches.
The company warns that computers still using Windows 10 are vulnerable to exploits, data loss or management problems, leading to "security disasters" for individuals and businesses.
“In modern attacks, hackers often exploit weaknesses in systems, from old operating systems, outdated infrastructure to unupgraded endpoints. The end of Windows 10 support makes many slow businesses ideal targets,” the company wrote on its official blog.
According to the company, each month of delay in upgrading creates more opportunities for attackers, when faced with a “patchwork” network of many weak devices that still handle important workloads.
The company also noted that the cost of remediating cyberattacks that exploit security vulnerabilities on legacy systems can be much higher than upgrading to the new version in the first place. In addition to the financial damage, the company's reputation is also at risk of being severely affected, reducing customer confidence and operational capacity.
The company recommends that individuals and organizations review high-risk devices, implement interim protections for older systems, and most importantly, migrate to Windows 11 as soon as possible to continue receiving security support.
With the number of Windows 10 users still very large, hackers are predicted to increase attacks targeting this group in the coming time. Therefore, users need to equip themselves with information security knowledge and proactively upgrade their systems to protect their data.
