Expanding investigation into Hanayuki cosmetics quality violations

This is a cosmetic brand launched by VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited, with Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, singer Doan Di Bang's husband, as the legal representative and general director.

According to a quick report from the Department of Health of Dong Nai province (Official Dispatch No. 2677/SYT-TTra dated May 22, 2025), the authorities have conducted inspections, handled the suspension of circulation, recall and destruction of violating cosmetic products that VB Group Company is responsible for bringing to the market, and EBC Dong Nai Company is the manufacturer.

Based on this report, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Dong Nai Department of Health to request EBC Company to continue reporting and clarifying many issues related to the production process, raw materials and product quality.

Specifically, for the product Hanayuki Shampoo (receipt number 780/24/CBMP-DN, which was recalled according to Decision No. 481/QD-SYT dated May 8, 2025), the Ministry of Health requested clarification on whether the company imported or used 2-Phenoxyethanol in the production process or not.

At the same time, the Company must report the number of product batches produced, provide a complete product information file (PIF), current production process, and compare the production conditions between the violating batch and other batches to determine the differences (if any).

Regarding the product Hanayuki Sunscreen Body (reception number 779/24/CBMP-DN, which was recalled according to Decision No. 519/QD-SYT dated May 19, 2025), the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Company to provide product information records, research and development records, especially the results of sun protection factor (SPF) testing.

The company must also report the number of product batches produced, provide test certificates or SPF test results, and compare production processes between batches to detect violations.

According to the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the test results from the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute for the product Hanayuki Sunscreen Body showed that the sun protection index listed on the label is SPF 50, but the actual index is only SPF 2.4, which is completely inconsistent with the published information and can cause serious effects to users.

Previously, the Drug Administration also decided to suspend circulation, recall and destroy the entire batch of Hanayuki Shampoo (300g bottle), on the grounds that the test sample exceeded the microbial limit and contained 2-Phenoxyethanol - an ingredient not declared in the registered formula.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requests that, based on the report and inspection results, the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health must handle violations according to current regulations.

In case of detecting signs of criminal violations, such as manufacturing or trading in counterfeit cosmetics, the case file must be transferred to competent authorities for investigation and handling according to the law.

The Hanayuki brand has recently been widely promoted on social networks with the representative image of singer Doan Di Bang. The incident is attracting great attention from public opinion, especially when it is related to the quality and safety of the widely advertised cosmetic products.

The Ministry of Health and relevant agencies are continuing to closely monitor and supervise the case to protect the rights and health of consumers.
