Flying motorcycle causes a stir at CES 2025

According to TechSpot , startup company Rictor recently caused a stir at CES 2025 (USA) when it introduced Skyrider X1, the world's first flying motorcycle with a not-too-expensive price.

Will the dream of 'flying motorbikes' come true?

Skyrider X1 is a unique combination of electric motorbike and drone, with 2 wheels for moving on the road and 8 propellers allowing it to fly in the air. With a maximum speed of 100 km/h and a flight time of 40 minutes per charge, Skyrider X1 promises to bring a completely new personal mobility experience.

The highlight of the Skyrider X1 is its autonomous operation. Users only need to enter a destination, and the vehicle will automatically plan the optimal flight path, overcome obstacles and adjust to weather conditions. It can even take off and land automatically.

However, Rictor's 'flying motorcycle' project has been met with a lot of skepticism. Experts say the technical and legal barriers are huge, especially for autonomous vehicles moving in crowded urban spaces.

Even if Rictor can perfect the product, licensing the autonomous flying vehicle will be a long and complicated process. But that's not too much of a concern because the Skyrider X1 still allows users to control it manually via a joystick.

However, Rictor is confident that the Skyrider X1 will be commercialized next year at a fairly 'affordable' price of 60,000 USD (about 1.5 billion VND). Is this an unrealistic promise of a young startup, or will the Skyrider X1 really open the era of personal transportation in the air?
