(HNMO) - On June 8, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) sent a notice to national football federations whose women's football teams qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup finals about increasing support and bonuses.
Accordingly, FIFA will add 110 million USD to distribute to teams based on their performance at the 2023 Women's World Cup. This fund will be transferred to participating football federations and used in two amounts.
The first part is to cover the costs of the team participating in the World Cup and to invest in football development. The amount received will depend on the performance of that team.
Specifically, each team participating in the group stage will definitely receive more than 1.5 million USD (about 35.2 billion VND). The round of 16 is 1.8 million USD (42.2 billion VND). Meanwhile, the champion receives nearly 4.3 million USD (101 billion VND).
The second part is the bonus for the players. Players registered for the 2023 World Cup will receive money based on the performance of the team. If they stop in the group stage, each player will receive 30,000 USD (more than 700 million VND). If they win the championship, each person "pocketed" 270,000 USD (6.3 billion VND).
In addition to the above amounts, FIFA also announced the total amount of money for clubs to "release" players to attend the World Cup. Notably, this figure has increased from the initial 8.5 million USD to 11.5 million USD. All spending of this fund by federations will be audited by FIFA.
Thus, although the 2023 Women's World Cup has not yet started, the Vietnamese women's team has been guaranteed "huge" amounts of money. Each player is sure to receive at least 700 million VND. If they create a surprise and pass the group stage, the players will receive even more.
Currently, the Vietnamese women's team is training in Germany and Poland to prepare for the 2023 World Cup. On this trip, coach Mai Duc Chung brought 28 players.
The team will have a total of four friendly matches in Europe. These are against Eintracht Frankfurt (June 10), Short Mainz (June 15), Poland U23 (June 21) and the German women's team (June 24).
