News from the Ministry of Industry and Trade this morning, June 5, said that within the framework of negotiations on the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the United States, a ministerial-level negotiation session between Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Head of the Vietnamese Government's negotiation delegation, and Chief of the US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Head of the US negotiation delegation, took place on June 4 (local time) in Paris (France).
The two ministers assessed the implementation of the work agreed upon by both sides after the second round of technical negotiations, and discussed the direction for the next round of technical negotiations.
On the Vietnamese side, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien announced the main points in Vietnam's response documents to the issues raised by the United States, and affirmed Vietnam's determination and goodwill in the process of finding a common voice and action with the United States.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Head of the US negotiating delegation, highly appreciated Vietnam's goodwill, approach and handling of the issue in response to the proposals made by the US, and acknowledged the efforts and constructive spirit of the Vietnamese negotiating delegation.
He said Vietnam is a comprehensive strategic partner of the United States, so reaching an agreement with Vietnam on reciprocal tax policy at this time is not only important for Vietnam but also for the United States.
He also responded quite positively to issues that Vietnam was concerned about, and proposed a number of solutions to handle complicated issues during the negotiation process.

The two ministers agreed to speed up the negotiation process, especially striving to achieve the best results in the third round of technical negotiations.
The two ministers also agreed to assign technical levels to enhance exchanges through online working sessions in content groups, in order to maximally resolve remaining technical issues, creating the best momentum for the third round of technical negotiations, scheduled to be held in the first half of June 2025.
The two Ministers pledged to continue close coordination and are ready to conduct more ministerial-level exchanges to promote the negotiation process towards results that are suitable for both sides.
