"Each union member and worker is a tourism ambassador"

Deputy Director of PN-KB Tourism Center Le Chieu Nguyen said that the center's member union has 162 members. Most of the members have been trained, have professional and technical skills, good moral qualities, a sense of responsibility and determination to overcome difficulties, and successfully complete assigned tasks. The movement "Each member and employee is a tourism ambassador" launched by the Center's member union since April 2024 has aroused and raised the sense of responsibility and attitude towards serving tourists of members and employees; at the same time, it encourages members to have many good actions, strengthen communication, promotion, and introduction of the image of the land and people of Quang Binh as friendly and hospitable...

Mr. Ta Minh Tam (born in 1965) in Tram Me residential group, Phong Nha town (Bo Trach), captain of boat number 125, has more than 20 years of experience sailing on the Son River to take tourists to Phong Nha-Tien Son cave. For him, each trip taking tourists to and from the tour safely is the happiest thing every day.

“Every day, we have to contact and serve many tourists from all over the country and the world , so our attitude and communication must be good, professional and polite, then the tourists’ impression of PN-KB and the local people will increase. In PN-KB, each person is a “tourism ambassador”, because of their enthusiasm, kindness and meaningful work…”, Mr. Tam shared.

Mr. Ta Minh Tam and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang made a good impression on tourists when they found lost property and returned it to its owner.

That kindness is the image of "picking up lost property and returning it to its owner" that Mr. Tam and the members, employees of the PN-KB Tourism Center and local people have carried out during their participation in serving at tourist destinations and routes such as Phong Nha-Tien Son Cave, Mooc Stream, Chay River-Dark Cave... in the past time.

“Many times I have picked up money and property that tourists left on the boat and contacted the PN-KB Tourism Center to find a way to return it to the tourists. The amount of money and property I returned to the tourists was about 50 million VND in cash and other important documents. Recently, a tourist from Thai Binh left a wallet on a boat to visit Phong Nha-Tien Son cave. I promptly returned it and later found out that the wallet contained about 10 million VND in cash, a phone and many important documents…”, said Mr. Tam.

As the captain of boat number 142, for Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (born in 1982) in Na residential group, Phong Nha town, accidentally picking up the property of tourists left on the boat or in the cave while visiting and then finding a way to return it is not a big deal. Because, for her, it is a responsibility and necessary kindness.

Hang’s family situation is as difficult as many other people in Na village. Her daily job is to run a boat to take tourists to visit Phong Nha-Tien Son cave. With a thorough understanding of the land and people, she has conveyed the cultural and humanistic values of the locality to tourists, helping tourists have many impressive discoveries and memories…

Implementing the movement "Each unit and employee is a tourism ambassador", in 2024, 2 collectives and 15 units and employees with outstanding achievements in implementing the movement were considered by the PN-KB Tourism Center's member union and proposed to the PN-KB National Park union for commendation...

“For every person working in tourism in PN-KB, if they find any property, big or small, left behind by tourists, they must find a way to return it. In nearly 20 years of participating in boating to transport tourists in PN, I have returned property many times. Recently, I found a wallet left on the boat by a tourist from Hanoi. I contacted the PN-KB Tourism Center to find a way to return it. Only then did I find out that inside there was 20 million VND in cash and many other important documents…”, Ms. Hang shared.

Head of Phong Nha-Tien Son Cave Management Board (PN-KB Tourism Center) Nguyen Van Tho said that the center is currently managing 401 tourist boats, 175 photographers and 46 souvenir and beverage stalls. In 2024, at the tourist routes and spots managed by the center, there will be 130 members, employees, captains, crew members, photographers who have the good deed of "picking up lost items and returning them to their owners"...
