Morata stuck at Galatasaray

Alvaro Morata's future continues to be in dispute as the Spanish striker is being "held back" at Galatasaray, despite having reached an agreement to join Como.

In February 2025, Morata joined Galatasaray from Milan on a one-year loan deal.

According to Spanish media, Morata has signed a preliminary contract with Como and has been given the green light by AC Milan - his current team - for the deal. However, Galatasaray - where he is currently playing on loan - do not accept letting the player leave easily.

Morata joined Galatasaray from Milan on a one-year loan deal in February 2025, with an option to buy for around €8-9 million. The Turkish giants are now in control, with the contract running until January 2026, and they are ready to trigger a six-month extension if needed.

In response to Como's move, Galatasaray offered a "redemption" price of up to 10 million euros - a figure exceeding the 6 million euro offer made by the Italian team. Although Como had completed all personal terms with Morata and received approval from AC Milan, the deal was still "stuck" due to the stubbornness of the Super Lig representative.

The main reason why Galatasaray “confined” Morata was the personnel problem in the attack. With Mauro Icardi’s injury and no return date set, coach Okan Buruk considered Morata an indispensable partner alongside the new blockbuster Victor Osimhen. Therefore, the yellow-red team did not want to lose another experienced player like Morata when the season was approaching.

Morata wants to move to Italy to play.

For his part, Morata has made it clear that he wants to move to Como, where he will be an important piece in coach Cesc Fabregas' ambitious project. The player born in 1992 is highly regarded not only for his experience at the European level, but also for his ability to quickly adapt to Italian football - where he used to play for Juventus.

If Galatasaray continues to be "hard-nosed", the deal could fall into a prolonged stalemate. That would not only affect Como's plans but also put Morata at risk of being frozen at an important stage of his career - especially when he is still competing for a place in the Spanish national team for the 2026 World Cup.
