Football tournament for workers and civil servants in 2025: Great motivation from a father

On the morning of October 31, the Final Round of the 2025 Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament officially opened at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium. 16 best teams from all regions gathered at the biggest football festival of Vietnamese workers.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the first round of matches in the four groups of the final round officially began. The teams took to the field with great determination to achieve the best results, thereby winning tickets to the knockout round.

Ho Chi Minh City 2 Trade Union had their opening match against the 2025 Northern qualifying round champion - the People's Public Security Trade Union team. With home field advantage, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City had a convincing performance when winning 2-0 against their opponent.

The home team received enthusiastic cheers from the stands, especially among them was Mr. Phan Minh Kiet, father of captain Phan Ly Tinh and younger brother Phan Ly Nghia.

His presence in the stands was a great source of motivation for the two brothers, helping them to show their best qualities.

It is known that this 58-year-old fan started from Tan Hoi commune ( An Giang ) to Ho Chi Minh City with a distance of more than 200km from October 30. On the opening day, he was present in the stands very early to follow the match and cheer enthusiastically for the home team.

Mr. Phan Minh Kiet said: “The two brothers (Ly Tinh, Ly Nghia) tried very hard to get to this final round, so I definitely had to go to the field to encourage them. I just want my children to compete well and keep themselves safe.”

The 58-year-old father also said that since the two brothers Phan Ly Tinh and Phan Ly Nghia were young, he always followed their every step on the field. When they grew up, started working and participated in grassroots tournaments, he continued to arrange time to go to the field to encourage and motivate them.

Not only does he come to the stadium to cheer, Mr. Kiet also helps the team look after and preserve equipment during the match. “I just want to contribute a little effort so that they can play with peace of mind and achieve the best results,” the 58-year-old father shared.

Captain of Ho Chi Minh City 2 Trade Union - Phan Ly Tinh emotionally said: "This is the third time my father has traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to cheer us on at the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Championship. His presence is definitely a great source of motivation for the two of us to try our best in every match."

In addition to the appearance of this special audience, in the stands of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants 2025, there were also many groups of fans. They came to the stadium with the desire to add strength and become psychological support for their favorite team.

The 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , and Vietnam Football Federation for the third consecutive year.

Entering the 2025 season, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual, prestigious playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers across the country; contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports , improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants, and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.

This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company (Faslink), 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025 took place from October 31 to November 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 16 teams that had successfully passed the qualifying round.
