An 800-year-old tree in Ha Tinh has been recognized as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree.

The drifting tree in the cultural house of Vinh Thang village, Huong Vinh commune, Huong Khe district ( Ha Tinh province) has a trunk circumference of 8.2m, a height of 27m, a canopy width of 40m, and is over 800 years old.

Through many generations, this ancient tree has been considered a "treasure" of the village by the people, and they work together to protect it.

After more than 800 years, the driftwood tree still grows green and lush. Every year, the driftwood tree still sprouts new shoots, bears fruit, grows green and lush, and provides shade for the villagers.

In addition to its ecological significance, the driftwood tree also has a special spiritual significance. Generations of Hoa Lac villagers have considered these ancient trees to be a god of agriculture, protecting the lives of the villagers.

This ancient tree is a symbol and a source of pride for the whole village. Local people always raise their sense of responsibility to protect, preserve, and clean the environment.

The drifting tree is also a place to mark the memory of the past feat of capturing commandos of the people of Vinh Thang village. Therefore, this drifting tree has become the pride of every local person.

Under the canopy of the driftwood tree, this place becomes a place for local people to live. In the afternoon, children turn the tree into a place to play and enjoy the cool breeze, while the elderly sit and play chess and exercise under the canopy.

The Vietnam Heritage Tree Council met and approved 45 more ancient trees from 6 provinces and cities that are eligible for recognition as Vietnam heritage trees. At the same time, the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council met, reviewed the documents and concluded that the drift tree at the Vinh Thang village cultural house (Huong Vinh commune) met all the criteria and was recognized as a Vietnam heritage tree.

Talking to PV Dan Viet, Mr. Tran Van Thi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Vinh Commune, Huong Khe District said: "The locality has just received a document from the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment regarding the approval of Vietnam heritage trees. The drift tree belongs to the family of scissors, spoon trees, and mango trees.

The people of Huong Vinh consider the "treasure" of the village, closely linked to the daily life and culture of the commune and always uphold the responsibility of protecting and preserving. Under the canopy of the driftwood tree is a community living space, a soul of the countryside with its own special local features.
