A Tra Vinh enterprise launches a book about wax coconut, a famous specialty fruit of Vietnam and the world.

Within the framework of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival, today August 25, Cau Ke Wax Coconut Processing Company Limited (Vicosap) organized the launch of the wax coconut book.

Mr. Tran Duy Linh - Director of Vicosap Company said that the book is an official channel to provide information for people and investors to learn and research about wax coconut trees, and also presents the views of experts on the great value that wax coconut trees bring.

The amount of information from the book has almost comprehensively summarized the history of the wax coconut tree (the process of introduction, planting, care), the economic value it brings and the assessments and orientations for long-term development, creating livelihoods for the people.

“The book is of practical significance as Tra Vinh province pays special attention to preserving and developing the local native wax coconut. Hopefully, after the launch, the book will be widely available in the province’s public library system, to meet people’s demand for information about Tra Vinh wax coconut trees,” Linh shared.

Mr. Tran Hoang Tuyen - Deputy Director of the Center for Business Research and Enterprise Support (BSA), in charge of the content of the Tra Vinh wax coconut book, said that the book was compiled very carefully, and had been organized into seminars, consulted, and supplemented many times with the enthusiastic contributions of leaders, scientists , and the enthusiastic help of localities and units in the province.

The book consists of 4 chapters with 220 pages, reflecting the journey of wax coconut with Tra Vinh land over 100 years.

The book not only meets scientific requirements but is also a valuable document, with complete, vivid, and authentic information, providing historical information to readers accurately.

Mr. Tuyen added: "The book "Tra Vinh Wax Coconut" was launched on the occasion of the Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival, which has special value and will contribute to the knowledge treasure of the province and the country."

The book shows the concern and determination of the Director of Vicosap Company about his love for wax coconut trees, wishing Tra Vinh wax coconut to become a symbol of perseverance, endurance, encouraging young entrepreneurs to be ready to devote themselves to building their homeland.

According to Ms. Thanh, this is an open book, a start and will be supplemented with information and documents, but no one has ever written about wax coconut in such depth. "Because up to now, when other units talk about coconut in general or wax coconut in particular, they only talk about exploitation and cultivation, not about history" - Ms. Thanh said.

Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival takes place from August 25 to August 31. The venue is Cau Ke town, Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province - where the wax coconut area is the largest in the province. Cau Ke district is also the place where wax coconuts are grown, with the highest wax content and the most delicious taste.

Within the framework of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival, there will be main activities such as the opening ceremony (evening of August 25), a contest to prepare 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut to set a record (August 27), an exhibition of local specialty fruits (August 25-31), a seminar on the current status and potential of wax coconut 926/8), a tourism discussion with the theme "Cau Ke - potential along the Hau River" (August 30).

In particular, during the opening ceremony of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival, the decision of the Department of Intellectual Property to grant the "Certificate of registration of geographical indication for wax coconut products of Tra Vinh province" will be presented to the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province.

In addition, after the opening ceremony of Tra Vinh Coconut Festival, there will be a 15-minute low-altitude fireworks display at the ceremony area. The fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m.

Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival is also organized in coordination with the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week event of Cau Ke district in 2024. Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week takes place from August 27 to 31 with main activities such as: opening ceremony (evening of August 27), trade fair (August 25-31), culinary space (August 25-31), lion dance festival (August 28-29), Vu Lan Thang Hoi image exhibition (August 27-31), sports activities and folk games (August 30-31), Ong Bon worship activities (August 27-31).
