Warning of heavy rain and landslides in the province

According to the bulletin of Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station, from 00:00 to 8:00 on October 25, Khanh Hoa province had moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. Rainfall at some stations was as follows: at Dai Lanh, 144.9mm; Ta Ruc Lake, 122.4mm; Hoa Son Lake, 114mm... Soil moisture model shows that some areas are nearly saturated, reaching over 80%.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the rainfall will be 30-50mm, in some places over 80mm. Rivers in the province are likely to experience a flood, the flood peak is at alert level 1-2, the downstream of Cai Nha Trang river at Dien Phu hydrological station is above and below alert level 2, especially on Dinh Ninh Hoa river is at alert level 2-3. Beware of the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas; floods affecting the safety of reservoirs; inundation of low-lying areas, riverside, urban areas in the province.

According to the forecast of the professional agency, on October 25 and 26, the whole Khanh Hoa province will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms. The total rainfall is generally from 40-100mm/period, in some places over 120mm/period. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (over 60mm/3 hours).

Specifically, it is forecasted that from 4:00 a.m. on October 25 to 7:00 p.m. on October 26, it will rain in the following communes and wards: Van Ninh, Dai Lanh, Dong Ninh Hoa, Tay Ninh Hoa, Dien Khanh, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Cam Lam, Ninh Hai, Thuan Bac, with 70-100mm/period, in some places over 120mm/period. In the following communes and wards: Khanh Vinh, Tay Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Tay Khanh Son, Bac Ai, Ninh Son, Thuan Nam, Ninh Phuoc, Phan Rang with 40-70mm/period, in some places over 100mm/period.

Experts warn that heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas. It is necessary to guard against the risk of landslides in areas with steep terrain and weak geological foundations. In addition, thunderstorms accompanied by whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds can cause roofs to be blown off, trees to be broken, and injuries to people and livestock.

From the night of October 26, rain tends to decrease.
