Peach blossom growers in Xuan Chinh commune (Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province) are busy stripping peach leaves to help the peach trees bloom and blossom in time for the Lunar New Year 2025. Thanks to growing peach blossoms for sale during Tet, many households in Xuan Chinh commune have a good income, with the total revenue of the commune reaching 15 billion VND.

Growing peach trees to sell during Tet brings good income

Present in Xuan Chinh commune (Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province), Dan Viet reporter observed many peach blossom gardens here had stripped all the leaves from the trees and carried out "special" care so that the peach trees would bloom in time for Tet 2025.

Mr. Trinh Van Chuong (Xuan Chinh commune) said: "My family has been growing peach trees for about 20 years now. Growing peach trees does not require much care, but the economic benefits are much higher than growing other types of flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums...".

"In 2024, the family currently has about 60 peach trees, and has stripped the leaves a few days ago. On average, the family earns 30-40 million VND per year from peach trees," Mr. Chuong shared.

Through research, the time to strip peach leaves will take place about 45-50 days before Tet so that the flowers can bloom in time for Tet 2025. The effect of stripping peach leaves at the right time will help the petals bloom big, thick and beautiful. Because when stripping leaves, the tree will concentrate nutrients to nourish flower buds, helping buds to bloom evenly and more.

Note, when stripping peach leaves, you need to determine the peach branch that needs to be stripped, then proceed to strip each leaf on the peach branch. In particular, pull each leaf of the peach branch backwards so that the leaf stem breaks off. It is necessary to protect the flower eye at the end of the leaf axil, so each leaf must be carefully stripped.

When stripping peach leaves, use your hands, do not use defoliant spray. In essence, this type of spray will affect the epidermis and the absorption of nutrients of the tree.

To enhance brand position, promote agricultural products such as peach blossom trees and other ornamental plants in Xuan Chinh commune (Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province) to the market.

It is known that the location of the Xuan Chinh flower market is the inter-commune crossroad (Hue Dich-Chi Thien village section, from January 10 to January 20, 2025. Expected opening date is December 18, 2024 (lunar calendar).

In 2023, revenue from peach blossoms in Xuan Chinh commune will be about 15 billion VND.

Regarding the organization of Xuan Chinh flower market, this is the first time we have done it to serve the needs of exchanging, buying and selling flowers and ornamental plants during the Lunar New Year. At the same time, it is a place for artisans, gardeners, organizations and individuals to introduce flower and ornamental plant products to meet, exchange and share experiences."
