The households implementing the model are enthusiastic about the new livelihood model, which focuses on exploiting local potential and advantages to achieve sustainable poverty alleviation.
Following the directives of the leaders of Thai Nguyen province, in January 2025, 50 initial breeding goats were delivered to 10 households in Mo Chi hamlet, with each household receiving four female goats and one male goat for breeding. After more than four months of good care and proper techniques, the goat herd of Mr. Ngo Van Hanh's family gave birth to three kids; the goat herd of Mr. Ngo Van Chu's family also gave birth to four kids.
Mr. Chu shared: “Mo Chi hamlet has a large area, hilly terrain, and abundant natural vegetation, providing a source of clean, green food for the goats. Along with that, the climate here is very suitable, so the goat herd is healthy and grows well.” The goat farming model to improve household economics in Mo Chi hamlet, Cuc Duong commune, has developed as expected by the local Party committee and government. As a result, the goat herd has grown rapidly, now numbering over 100 animals. After more than four months of raising, each goat weighs an average of 7 to 10 kg, with a stable selling price of 150,000-170,000 VND/kg, bringing in an average of over 1 million VND per goat sold.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cúc Đường commune, Hoàng Quốc Anh, preliminary assessments show that the goat farming model adapts well to natural conditions, requires no investment in feed, doesn't take much time for care, is suitable for the local ethnic minority people, the goat herd develops well, has high economic efficiency, and provides a long-term livelihood for farmers. This not only provides breeding goats to help disadvantaged households here find employment and stable income to gradually escape poverty, but also helps other households in the hamlet continue to invest in expanding goat farming, spreading the model and contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security. Mỏ Chì hamlet, Cúc Đường commune, has 130 households with nearly 800 inhabitants, mostly H'Mông ethnic people, and is a particularly disadvantaged hamlet with a high poverty rate.
With a suitable and successful goat farming model, the local Party committee and government will replicate the model in Mo Chi in the coming time; at the same time, they will study national target programs and investment projects for particularly difficult areas to develop goat farming, in order to exploit potential and promote local economic development.
