Implementing Directive 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Central Party Secretariat on Strengthening the Party's leadership in dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam, from 2015 to present, the Associations at all levels in Lang Son province have mobilized more than 8.4 billion VND from social resources; presented 8,547 gifts (worth 4.7 billion VND); supported the renovation and repair of 38 houses worth more than 2.7 billion VND; supported the care and treatment of 260 victims (worth 290 million VND); awarded more than 60 scholarships for children of victims to study; supported production capital (interest-free) for 17 families of victims worth 170 million VND...
It can be said that the above activities have contributed to the Party Committees and authorities at all levels to ensure the good implementation of gratitude work in the province. Thereby, the associations at all levels have gathered, united, protected the rights and legitimate interests of members;educated , encouraged and created all conditions to help Agent Orange victims and their families overcome difficulties and integrate into the community.
Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial Red Cross Society Nong Bich Thuan said that Lang Son province currently has 653 victims of Agent Orange (including 389 direct victims and 264 indirect victims). Over the past 10 years, along with propaganda and implementation of Directive 43-CT/TW, the Lang Son Provincial Red Cross Society has always closely coordinated with the Provincial Association of Agent Orange Victims (formerly) and the Party Committees and authorities of districts and cities to carry out meaningful activities.

Lang Son Red Cross Society visited and presented gifts to 4,559 Agent Orange victims on the occasion of Lunar New Year with a total value of more than 2.8 billion VND; regularly used the Humanitarian Fund to visit and present gifts on the occasion of Humanitarian Month and Agent Orange Victims Day on August 10 to over 200 cases; coordinated with BIDV Bank to assign a humanitarian address to 1 family (2 million VND/month) in 2024-2025 with a total value of 48 million VND; built 5 charity houses worth nearly 600 million VND...
Red Cross chapters at all levels in the province have assisted 4,767 victims of Agent Orange in the past 10 years with a total value of nearly 3.5 billion VND.
Recognizing the achievements, on May 30, in Lang Son city, the Lang Son Provincial Red Cross Society held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Directive 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Central Party Secretariat on Strengthening the Party's leadership in resolving the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam (2015-2025).

At the conference, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the activities of the Red Cross Society at all levels in the province over the past 10 years; commended the victims of Agent Orange who have overcome difficulties, risen up, taken control of their lives, and integrated into the community; welcomed agencies, units, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province who have actively helped victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Lang Son province in both material and spiritual terms, contributing to the effective implementation of Directive No. 43-CT/TW.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of Agent Orange victims in Lang Son province, Mr. Vu Van Xuan (Lang Son city) said: Although he still carries the evil poison in his body, for many years, he has still participated as a driving instructor at Tung Linh Driving Training and Testing Center, instructing and training about 50 people in 1 year, earning about 6 million VND/month, increasing his income and helping his family.

The conference summarizing 10 years of implementing Directive 43-CT/TW is an opportunity for all levels of associations in Lang Son province to review and evaluate the results achieved, and at the same time express gratitude to all levels, sectors, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, cadres, party members, philanthropists and people who have always cared for, supported, facilitated, helped and encouraged victims of Agent Orange over the past 10 years.
From this meaningful activity, charitable actions and deeds will continue to spread, empowering victims to overcome difficulties, ease the pain of Agent Orange, stabilize their lives, move towards a brighter future, and contribute to building a better society.
Lang Son province determined to continue promoting propaganda work so that all levels, sectors and all classes of people have a better understanding of the Agent Orange disaster, further strengthening coordination to ensure increasingly better implementation of policies and regimes for people infected with Agent Orange; providing medical support and livelihood assistance for victims of Agent Orange; continuing to pay attention to reviewing the records of subjects exposed to Agent Orange, advising competent authorities to consider so that subjects can enjoy the regime according to State regulations, ensuring the rights of victims for records that meet the prescribed conditions.
The People's Committee of Lang Son province also requested that the Red Cross at all levels continue to build and strengthen the organization after merging 3 associations (Association of Agent Orange/dioxin Victims, Association of the Blind, Association for the Support of the Disabled and Protection of Children's Rights) to ensure the principle of "No interruption of work, no lack of support for beneficiaries".
At the same time, the organization of activities needs to focus on innovating the content and implementation methods with the spirit of "Solidarity - Affection - Responsibility - for Agent Orange victims" to improve quality and efficiency, thereby building a team of enthusiasm, responsibility, and dedication towards the grassroots, especially in remote areas.
In addition, as the leading agency, the Lang Son Provincial Red Cross will continue to promote the socialization of care and help Agent Orange victims have a better life both materially and spiritually.
