Vang On village, Trung Minh commune, Yen Son district, is located far from the commune center, mountainous terrain, difficult transportation, and the electricity grid has not been lit for the people. In early 2025, the electricity supply project to the village was completed and put into use in the joy and excitement of the people. This is also the last village in Tuyen Quang province to be supplied with national grid electricity.
Mr. Giang Seo Sinh, Head of Vang On village, shared that the village was established in 1993, with two ethnic groups, H'Mong and Dao, living together, of which the H'Mong ethnic group accounts for about 80%. This is a particularly difficult village of Trung Minh commune, with the poverty rate accounting for 75% (the highest in the commune). Over the past 30 years, the people of Vang On village have had no concrete roads or national grid electricity, so life has been very difficult. The villagers always long for the day when the village has concrete roads to develop the economy , and every household has electricity for a better life. It is a joy that today their dream has come true.
Mr. Trang Truong Luong, Vang On village, said: Without electricity, economic development as well as information reception is very difficult. Now that there is electricity, people's lives will change, become more convenient, and children's studies will also progress. When accessing information through television, the internet, etc., people will change their thinking, building an increasingly prosperous life. Tam village, Son Phu commune, Na Hang district, previously had no national electricity grid, and was the village with the highest poverty rate in the commune. Since 2022, when the State invested in electricity projects, nearly 100 Red Dao households here have been able to use it. With electricity, there are conditions for economic development, life has improved, and poverty has gradually been pushed back. According to Party cell secretary and village head Trieu Van Nhat, since the electricity grid was available, the village has eliminated 26 poor households.
People grasp information, apply science and technology to livestock and crop farming according to the right time frame, no longer produce based on feelings like before. People self-study, apply livestock farming methods through TV and internet, so now in Ban Tam, the model of raising black pigs with a scale of 20-30 pigs/household appears more and more. Not only that, people also invest in science in planting, caring for forests, raising fish in cages, especially specialty fish in cages. Chairman of Son Phu Commune People's Committee Ha Van Duc said that since the national grid was available, people have promoted the application of social networks and the internet to promote and connect the consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products such as Shan Tuyet tea, corn wine, honey, dried bamboo shoots... Village cultural houses have been socialized by people to be fully equipped with amplifiers, speakers, and televisions to serve spiritual life.
According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade, from 2021 to present, the whole province has invested in building nearly 59 km of new medium-voltage lines, 24 transformer stations, with a total capacity of nearly 2,200kVA and 86.7 km of low-voltage lines to supply electricity to more than 4,000 households living in remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged areas. During the implementation process, despite many difficulties, the department has been flexible in directing and operating, while contractors have made efforts and focused resources to complete the construction of power supply projects for villages and hamlets without national grid power in the fastest time, ensuring progress and quality.
When implementing the construction of the projects, they received great consensus and support from the people. People voluntarily handed over the site to the investor and contractor to ensure the progress of implementation. After the projects were completed and put into use, they met the people's desire to use grid electricity, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring local security and defense; completing the target of 100% of villages and hamlets in the province having national grid electricity and completing one year ahead of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Hoang Duc Tien said: The projects put into use have created conditions for people to develop production, serve their lives, help transform the production structure and narrow the gap between regions in a sustainable way; achieve the goal of poverty reduction in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, and areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions. The national grid projects from state support funds in extremely difficult villages with a large number of ethnic minorities in Tuyen Quang province in recent times have affirmed the efforts of the Party and State in caring for all aspects of people's lives, creating motivation for people to stabilize their lives and develop socio-economic conditions.
