Dam Vinh Hung has just announced a film project called The King. This is a biographical film project about the life of many ups and downs and the 25-year singing career of the "king of Vietnamese music". The film is made by two directors Bao Nhan - Namcito. The event attracted the attention of the media as well as gathered more than 500 famous artists of showbiz to attend.

Sharing about his special project, the male singer said that he had been nurturing it for 3 years. “I have been nurturing the idea of making a movie about my artistic journey for a long time, but it was not until today that the plan officially started. Coincidentally, it happened to be on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Dam Vinh Hung's singing career. I met talented young people, they are all very good in the fields they are pursuing. Right person - right time, there was no reason for me to hesitate, I nodded in agreement to entrust my life story to them immediately," he said.

At the meeting, Dam Vinh Hung invited two special colleagues to share with him, singer Quang Linh and director, actor - MC Tran Thanh. In singer Quang Linh's memory, Dam Vinh Hung is a very persistent younger brother with his love for music .

As for Tran Thanh, the male MC said he admired his senior for his enthusiasm and dedication after many years of working. He could not help but admire his senior when he frankly admitted that " even if I were to be born in 10 lifetimes, I would never be like Mr. Hung now".

Besides feeling excited about the project, the male artist also wondered when asking a difficult question about his senior's project. The male MC shared whether Mr. Dam would dare to say bad things about himself in the film or not?

"When people look at Tran Thanh or Dam Vinh Hung, they will think we are crazy, have an unusual life and make controversial statements. I don't know what is the biggest purpose that Dam Vinh Hung wants to make this film?", Tran Thanh wondered.

In response to his juniors’ question, Dam Vinh Hung frankly said: “I admit that I have many shortcomings, but I’m just good at hiding them. I’m also mean, grumpy, and a bit rude when I talk… but because the artist’s shirt controls me too much, the audience cannot see Dam Vinh Hung’s hidden corners and shortcomings. Before Dam Vinh Hung's words, Tran Thanh could not control his emotions and cried on stage. After the premiere, Dam Vinh Hung will begin casting to choose the person to play his role from childhood to adulthood. Some characters associated with his life such as: mother, Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh, diva Thanh Lam, Duong Trieu Vu, Vu Ha, My Tam, Lam Truong, Dan Truong... will also be portrayed by actors.

Dam Vinh Hung said he and his crew always consider carefully to avoid unnecessary trouble. After the meeting, the male singer chose 2 options: inviting both real people and actors to play the role.

"Before now, people always assumed that everything associated with me had to be flashy, shiny and top-notch. This unintentionally put pressure on me in my career and life. I don't dare say too much about the project, but I promise to do my best," said the male singer.

The King - The King recreates the colorful life of Dam Vinh Hung spanning many stages of the Vietnamese entertainment and music industry from the 80s-90s to the present. In addition, the hidden corners of his private life and the controversies and conflicts (scandals) throughout his career in showbiz of the King of Vietnamese music will also be portrayed realistically, completely and emotionally on film.

After the project announcement, Dam Vinh Hung and the two directors Bao Nhan - Namcito will complete the script and prepare for the nationwide casting plan. The film is expected to premiere in 2024.
