STO - Summer has come, students are looking forward to this time to relax after a stressful time studying. And they want to have exciting summer months with interesting experiences, participating in recreational activities with their families, taking gifted classes, playing their favorite sports ... to recharge their energy for the new school year.

“Putting back” the pages of her second grade textbook, Tran Ngoc Anh Tho, in Ward 7, Soc Trang City (Soc Trang) was sent by her father to attend gifted classes at the Soc Trang Provincial Children’s House according to her interests. Following the regular schedule, she went to the children’s house to learn to sing, draw, and practice beautiful handwriting. While concentrating on carefully drawing each stroke and choosing colors to make the picture more vivid, Anh Tho bragged to me: “This summer, my parents let me attend 3 classes at the Provincial Children’s House, all of which are my favorite classes. In the morning I learned to draw, in the evening I learned to sing and write. Then my mother also registered me for an online English course. I really like the summer months because I have more time to study additional gifted subjects that suit my abilities.”

The reward that her parents gave to Truong Huynh Giao (11 years old) in Ward 2, Soc Trang City, who achieved the title of excellent student last school year, was a drawing course at the Provincial Children's House. According to Huynh Giao, she dreams of becoming a painter. During the months of the semester, she doesn't have time to take drawing classes, but she really enjoys going to classes with friends who share the same passion. "In addition to drawing, I also like to learn martial arts and play some sports. In the summer, I have a lot of time for this hobby. In addition to the gifted class, I stay home to help my mother take care of my two younger siblings. Sometimes, my parents take my sisters and I to my grandparents' house to play," Huynh Giao shared.

Head of the Organization, Administration and Training Department, Provincial Children's House, Truong Hoang Nam, said: "During the summer vacation, the Children's House opens gifted classes for registration from June 1 to August 31 for students from grades 1 to 8. Currently, 15 classes have been opened with 9 types: vocal music, dance, English, drawing, Math, Vietnamese, calligraphy, martial arts, with 300 students attending. The schedule here is very flexible in all 3 sessions: morning, afternoon, evening, with a study time of 90 minutes, so parents can easily choose a suitable time to take their children to school. In addition, the classes are opened according to the needs and interests of the children, not only developing their talents but also being a place for them to play and exercise. The Provincial Children's House hopes to add more excitement to the summer for the children."

This summer, many families have also planned interesting experiences for their children. Mr. Tran Hoai Nhan, in Ward 3, Soc Trang City, plans to take his family on a trip outside the province. A sightseeing trip will give his children many happy memories with their family and it will also be a practical trip, helping his children learn more about the famous landscapes in Vietnam. In addition to that plan, Mr. Nhan has registered his children for swimming classes, because according to him, children need to know how to swim to prevent drowning.

Many parents also shared that during the 3-month long summer without going to school, children are very susceptible to being addicted to playing games, "glued" to the screens of smartphones and tablets. And this is a bad habit for young children. Therefore, parents proactively choose to register their children to participate in courses such as soccer, basketball, martial arts, swimming... not only to help children exercise, improve their health but also to support height development. Many parents also believe that it is necessary to give their children a real summer, without the pressure of having to continue going to extra classes. "My parents have scheduled a trip to Nha Trang and Da Lat for next July, I am really looking forward to that day. My mother also took me to swimming lessons so that I can swim when I go to the beach. In the summer, my parents also took me to my paternal hometown in Tran De to play. I really like the summer" - Thai Thien Thao, in Ward 3, Soc Trang city, said about her summer vacation activities.

Contributing to the vibrant summer, the Standing Committee of the Soc Trang Provincial Youth Union also scheduled to launch many useful activities for children. Most recently, on June 11, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union organized a Summer Children's Camp. This is an activity in response to the peak day of volunteer soldiers "For beloved juniors" in 2023, the City Youth Union was chosen as the venue for this activity. The camp took place with many attractive activities: collective activities, folk dancing with Jollibee bees; Golden Bell contest; organizing food stalls; folk games... creating conditions for children to have fun together during the summer. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee also coordinated with relevant units to organize experience programs and skills education for children such as the Military Semester class (9th time), the Police Semester Experience Program (1st time), scheduled to take place in July. In addition, the Children's Painting Contest with the theme "Vietnamese Children - Do thousands of good deeds" will be organized from June to August 2023.

During the summer, parents are very interested in giving their children interesting experiences. Not only fun and entertainment but also help children gain additional skills to develop their talents and physical strength. In addition, the youth union also contributes many activities to make the summer more exciting for children.
