According to CNN, the storm brought a large amount of moisture moving into Southern California, causing heavy rain and flooding in many cities. The Los Angeles area recorded more than 25 cm of rain since February 4, more than the normal level for the entire month of February.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said "extremely dangerous conditions" were occurring in the Hollywood Hills area and around the Santa Monica Mountains on the outskirts of Los Angeles, warning that dangerous mudslides and flash floods were possible.

The force rescued a man from floodwaters by helicopter after he jumped in to save his dog. "The rescue team ran to multiple bridges and access points along the river and found the animal. It swam to safety and escaped the water," Los Angeles police said in a statement.

At least three people were killed by falling trees on February 4, including an 82-year-old man in Yuba, a 45-year-old man in the Santa Cruz Mountains and one in Sacramento. More than 500,000 people in California were without power.
The greatest threat of flash flooding on Friday is in Southern California, as a moist front slowly moves inland, but forecasters say catastrophic impacts are unlikely.

On the evening of February 5, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held a press conference on the flood situation and unexpectedly received a call from President Joe Biden. The White House owner praised the rescue forces and said he was working closely with California Governor Gavin Newsom to mobilize resources to respond to the disaster.
