In the latest development reflecting escalating tensions between the Trump administration and Harvard University, the White House owner decided to stop issuing US visas to new international students preparing to study at the school, Reuters reported.
The order also directs the State Department to “consider revoking” the existing academic or exchange visa of any international student currently enrolled at Harvard University if the terms of the order are consistent with the terms of the order.
Last month, the US State Department asked all foreign missions to begin additional screening of visa applicants coming to Harvard University for any purpose, according to internal correspondence seen by Reuters.

The new two-page order notes that Harvard has a history of disturbing ties to foreign countries and extremism in its operations.
According to the order, the FBI has long warned that foreign adversaries of the United States are taking advantage of easy access to American highereducation to steal information, steal American research and development results, and spread disinformation about the country.
Washington also accused Harvard University of failing to provide specific information to the Department of Homeland Security about international students engaging in illegal or dangerous behavior.
Harvard University protested what it said was retaliation from the White House for refusing the Trump administration's demands to control its administration, curriculum, and the ideology of its faculty and students.
