Nearly 10,000 Vingroup staff and collaborators clean the coast of 28 provinces and cities

DNVN - About 10,000 Vingroup staff and volunteers simultaneously started cleaning up many coastal areas, river mouths and coastal areas in 28 provinces and cities. After more than an hour of operation, the total cleaning area was estimated at more than 17.4 hectares and nearly 72 tons of waste were collected.

This is a major community activity, part of the “Acting Together for the Blue Ocean” Campaign launched by the Green Future Fund in collaboration with member and affiliate companies of Vingroup . The event aims to protect the marine environment, combat plastic waste pollution and raise public awareness of sustainable development on World Oceans Day (June 8).

From early morning on June 8, about 10,000 Vingroup staff and volunteers took action. Common types of garbage collected include: plastic bottles, nylon bags, broken fishing nets, household waste... These are the main causes of serious pollution to coastal ecosystems, threatening biodiversity, hindering the livelihoods of fishermen and negatively affecting the marine tourism industry.

The campaign received active response and cooperation from local authorities and organizations at many connecting points such as: Nha Trang City People's Committee, Khanh Hoa Province; Thuy Nguyen City People's Committee, Hai Phong City; Can Gio District Party Committee, Ho Chi Minh City; Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Binh Thuan provinces; educational institutions including Quy Nhon University, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vung Tau College of Tourism, and other mass organizations and community groups...


More than 1,000 Vingroup staff and volunteers were present very early at Tue Tinh Park, Nha Trang, wearing green uniforms and gloves, showing their sense of responsibility and commitment to environmental action. This is not just a simple garbage collection activity, but also a strong affirmation of a green lifestyle, awareness of protecting the sea - protecting the future of the tourist city of Nha Trang.


Mr. Le Dai Duong - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee - highlighted the significance and practicality of the campaign "Acting together for the blue sea" initiated by the Green Future Fund and member companies and affiliates of Vingroup Corporation in response to World Oceans Day - June 8, 2025 and the 2025 Sea Culture and Tourism Festival; The campaign aims to raise awareness of protecting Vietnam's marine and ocean resources, and at the same time calls on the community to join hands in practical action to clean up and preserve the beauty of the country's coastline.


Sharing about the significance of the campaign, Dr. Le Thai Ha - Executive Director of the Green Future Fund, said: “Plastic waste is no longer a single environmental issue, but a global sustainable development challenge. With the campaign “Acting together for a green ocean”, we expect to create a real impact, not only by cleaning the beaches but also by changing awareness - so that each individual clearly sees their role in protecting marine resources. This is a concrete step in the long-term journey that we are committed to for a green future for Vietnam”.

Despite the rugged terrain and harsh morning sun, members still enthusiastically collected every piece of trash, plastic bags, and plastic bottles stuck in the crevices of rocks. The activity not only contributed to cleaning up the coastal landscape but also strongly spread the spirit of responsibility and action for a green - clean - beautiful environment in the coastal tourist city.


At the bridgehead in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vu Minh Ly - Deputy Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, expressed his excitement when participating in the Launching Ceremony in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. He emphasized the practical significance of the campaign in spreading the message of protecting the marine environment and calling for widespread participation from the community, especially in key coastal areas such as Can Gio.


On this occasion, the Fund for a Green Future donated 410 trash bins to Thanh An island commune to implement the model of "Bringing household waste and plastic waste from fishermen at sea to shore", contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of fishermen in managing and treating waste at sea, protecting aquatic resources and a green - clean - beautiful marine environment.

Vingroup staff and volunteers walked along the sandy shore to pick up trash and clean the beach of Can Thanh town.


In Hai Phong - where the campaign has the largest force in the North, nearly 1,000 employees of Vingroup companies and volunteers joined hands to collect garbage along the riverbank on Vu Yen island.


The event attracted a large number of participants from units such as Vinschool, Vinmec, Vinpearl, VinFast, Vinhomes, VinCons, demonstrating their sense of responsibility and determination to act for the environment.


A large number of staff and volunteers gathered at the starting point, listened to the mission announcement and were ready to start collecting coastal waste in Phu Quoc.


Volunteers and staff of Vingroup in Phu Quoc excitedly waved their hands, showing their determination to join hands to keep the sea blue - clean - beautiful.


Hundreds of bags of garbage were quickly collected and loaded onto trucks after the launch, demonstrating the practical effectiveness of the campaign and the local community's spirit of environmental action.


The team set out in Quang Nam after completing the clean-up campaign. “Today’s campaign is just the starting point, and from the localities will spread a spirit: living in harmony with the sea, developing from the sea – but not trading the future of the sea. That is also the way we realize the vision of the Party and Government on sustainable marine economic development – ​​as affirmed in Resolution 36-NQ/TW”, said Dr. Le Thai Ha - Executive Director of the Fund for a Green Future.


“Acting together for a blue ocean” is one of the key activities in 2025 of the Green Future Fund, and is also a concrete step to realize the sustainable development strategy that Vingroup is pursuing. In the coming time, the Fund will continue to coordinate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, scientists and the community to develop marine conservation programs, environmental education, and encourage innovation in recycling and improving marine ecosystems.

Through practical and in-depth actions, Vingroup aims to spread awareness of protecting seas and islands in the community, contributing to building a greener - cleaner - more sustainable Vietnam for future generations.
