11-year-old boy returns pile of money worth tens of millions of dong to person who lost it

On the afternoon of May 13, Major Tran Anh Tuan, Chief of Xuan Hoi Commune Police (Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh ), said that the unit had supported the family of a male student in the area to return 61 million VND to the person who lost it.

At 11am the same day, Ms. Mai Thi Huong (born in 1976, residing in Hoi Thuy village, Xuan Hoi commune) dropped a stack of money while walking home from the market. The bills were all in denominations of 500,000 VND, totaling 61 million VND.

After receiving the report, Xuan Hoi Commune Police announced the incident on the model "Zalo connecting peace in Xuan Hoi Commune" so that people would know.

The unit also deployed forces to check and search the entire related road.

At 1:00 p.m. the same day, Xuan Hoi Commune Police received a report from Mr. Hoang Ngoc Giang, residing in Hoi Tien village, Xuan Hoi commune, about his son picking up the above amount of money.

Accordingly, at around 11:40 a.m. on May 13, on the dike road in Hoi Tien village, Hoang Duc Duy (11 years old, Giang's son) picked up 61 million VND and brought it home to inform his father.

Having previously read the content of the commune police's announcement about the incident on Zalo, Mr. Giang contacted to report.

On the same day, Xuan Hoi Commune Police verified and assisted in returning the money to Ms. Huong. Receiving her money back, Ms. Huong expressed her joy and thanked Duy's family and Xuan Hoi Commune Police.

Xuan Hoi commune leaders assessed Duy's act of picking up lost property and finding a way to return it to its owner as a beautiful demonstration of moral qualities, full of humanity, and worthy of being praised and spread in the community.

"We have discussed with the commune police about awarding a certificate of merit to Duy at school during the flag-raising ceremony early next week to recognize and commend his good deeds," the leader informed.
