Tran Minh Duc received his IELTS test results on Sunday. He scored 9.0 in the three skills of Listening, Reading, and Speaking. He scored 8.0 in Writing alone. The total score is 9.0. Having a good foundation in grammar and vocabulary, and reading and writing a lot, Duc only focused on practicing some necessary skills to meet the requirements of the exam. According to Duc, in the speaking test, the examiner does not focus on the knowledge and understanding of the candidate but will evaluate the ability to express himself naturally, fluently, and without hesitation. For writing, writing style is the most important factor. The more candidates demonstrate the ability to use rich and flexible words and sentences, the easier it is to score points. In addition, candidates should watch financial and stock analysis videos to be able to solve well the questions that have content analyzing charts. One of the requirements Duc received in the speaking test was to tell about a time he learned something from a video online. Duc talked about the origin of spices and fruits in the world . This is also a field that Duc has been passionate about since he was a child. Ms. Vu Thu Trang, Duc's mother, shared that her son's outstanding point is that he is very proactive in learning. When he was only 3 and a half years old, Duc knew how to read both Vietnamese and English, so from then on he almost decided what to read and what to watch. The boy was born in 2008, just turned 16, has a special interest in plants and flowers, so most of the videos he watches have topics related to botany and biology. All videos are in English. Because he watches a lot, Duc's English vocabulary is naturally improved. Duc shared that it was not until the end of primary school that he felt his listening and speaking ability was better. It was not until grade 9 that Duc really learned English in the sense of reviewing, "plowing the test". Duc took the entrance exam to major in English and was ranked valedictorian in his major (Photo: NVCC). Originally, English was not the field that Duc wanted to pursue. After 4 years of studying in the dual-degree class at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Duc always had a love for plants. In 8th grade, Duc decided to try biology and joined the recruiting team. However, the fact that he had never taken extra biology classes made it impossible for him to follow the review schedule of his teammates. Therefore, Duc's dream of taking the Biology exam had to be put on hold. In 2023, Duc took the entrance exam for the 10th grade specializing in English with the highest specialized subject score at Ams school. In 10th grade, Duc was again interested in biology. All summer, Duc devoted all his time to his studies, supplementing the knowledge he lacked compared to his specialized classmates. In 11th grade, Duc showed his determination when he registered for the Biology exam. He was allowed by his teachers to study in the Biology class, because the English class did not have this elective subject. However, this year's regulations for the excellent student exam have changed, students can only choose subjects from the subjects they have studied in the 2018 general education program. So Duc missed his appointment with biology and had to return to English. Despite the short review time, Duc still passed the selection round at school, then the city selection round and is preparing for the national exam on December 25. At the age of 16, the 9.0 IELTS boy is determined to pursue biology in the future. He is nurturing some personal projects about plants. Also because of his passion for plants, Duc loves growing plants, cooking, baking and drawing. All the topics in Duc's kitchen and painting revolve around plants, flowers and leaves. He is also interested in history and geography, fields that he believes are closely related to the natural world.
