Teacher says Road to Olympia champion Tran Bui Bao Khanh is 'like an encyclopedia'

Wearing a laurel wreath on his head, Bao Khanh shared that it had been a long time since Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted had such a grand and well-invested venue. He thanked everyone at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel venue and the studio for their support.

When asked about the most impressive part of the competition, the new champion immediately and unhesitatingly mentioned the final round, which was the crucial part that determined the victory.

The turning point was the Speed Round. Khanh said, "I managed to maintain my leading position." "I competed to the end and gave my all, I have no regrets," the champion said.

Regarding post-victory plans, Khanh said he is still thinking about them and hasn't made any specific decisions yet.

"I hope the other contestants will believe in themselves and persevere in pursuing their dreams every day," Khanh advised.

Before the final match, with the studious spirit of the capital city, Tran Bui Bao Khanh confidently stated: "With all my pride, I will bring the laurel wreath back to Amsterdam High School."

In the Quarter 4 competition broadcast on October 19th, Khanh excelled, scoring 270 points. In this round, Khanh led in most of the competition sections. Previously, in the monthly competition, Khanh had achieved 295 points, one of the highest scores of the season.

With a talent for biology, a good memory, and a passion for reading, cooking, and listening to music, Bao Khanh shared that he has a habit of memorizing information after observing or hearing it once. He also always tries to remain calm throughout the competition.

Bao Khanh once shared that she wanted to conquer Olympia since she was a primary school student. Both her paternal and maternal grandmothers are big fans of the program.

From that foundation, Bao Khanh dreamed of one day standing on the Olympia stage. Many times, Khanh imagined himself in the position of a contestant and answering questions to practice his reflexes.

In high school, Khanh registered for the Olympia simulation competition organized by his school's OlympiaAms club to pursue his passion. In 2024, the male student won the OlympiaAms competition, becoming the school's representative in this year's Olympia competition.

Khanh said he doesn't have any special secrets for studying or preparing for the program. The male student entered Olympia through his passion for reading and learning knowledge through the internet.

In class, Bao Khanh is the head of the psychology club at school, actively participating in organizing many events related to community psychology, cognitive bias, and moral psychology.

The student was eager to learn and explore.

Ms. Bui Thi Thu Ha, homeroom teacher of the 12th grade Biology class at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, shared that she was "extremely moved and proud of her students."

She mentioned that this year, the 12th-grade Biology class already had a student win a gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad, and now they have another student who won first place in the 2025 Road to Olympia competition.

According to her teacher, Khanh fulfilled her promise to bring the televised competition to Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students. She also brought glory and the prestigious laurel wreath back to the school. This victory is the most meaningful commemorative gift to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary.

According to Ms. Ha, the moment the students from the Biology specialized class draped themselves in the flag and went on stage to receive their award was "truly wonderful".

In previous competitions, Bao Khanh had been sick and had to take fever-reducing medication. However, in the final round, Khanh was better prepared, had time to rest and study.

Speaking about her student's performance in the final round, she assessed that Khanh was confident and not overly nervous; the people who were more nervous than Khanh were the teachers at school.

Commenting on Bao Khanh, her homeroom teacher revealed that the student is responsible, cheerful, sociable, and enthusiastic in supporting other students in the class.

"Bao Khanh is like an encyclopedia of knowledge in both social and natural sciences thanks to his love of reading, his thirst for knowledge, and his eagerness to explore and learn."

"Besides winning the Olympia competition, Khanh also achieved the title of outstanding student in Biology at the city level for all three years of high school," she shared.
