On the afternoon of May 10, at the graduation ceremony of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ngo Van Hieu (student of Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy) was arranged to sit in the front row, next to his close friend Tat Minh. After more than 4 years, Minh graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology with a degree in Computer Science.
Looking at his best friend wearing his bachelor's gown, Hieu was moved and shared that he was very happy and proud to see Minh graduate from Hanoi University of Science and Technology with honors.
“Minh's efforts over the past four years have finally paid off,” Hieu said.
More than 5 years after the story of the couple who carried each other to school for 10 years went viral, Van Hieu said he was surprised that people still remembered and cared about them.
Currently, Hieu is in his 5th year at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. In 2020, when Hieu failed to get into Hanoi Medical University because he was 0.25 points short, many people suggested that the school should give him special treatment. However, at that time, Hieu did not expect to be given special treatment because "this is also unreasonable" and was worried about the views of his classmates if he was accepted thanks to his friendship with Minh.
After studying in Thai Binh, Hieu found this to be the right choice and had no regrets.
“The only thing I regretted at that time was having to leave Minh and not being able to help him much during his studies. But now, I feel secure and very proud of the results Minh has achieved.”
The moment Tat Minh's name was called on stage, Hieu also carried his friend up to receive his diploma, just like he had accompanied his best friend many years ago.

Addressing the new graduates at the graduation ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that becoming a student of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and graduating from here is a proud milestone, a testament to the students' tireless efforts, steadfast will and intelligence.
"With the achievements you have made, I think you have the right to be proud when you put on your graduation gown," said Mr. Khiem.
In this graduation session, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has nearly 3,000 students graduating, of which 98 students achieved excellent results (3%), 537 students achieved good results (18%), 2,005 students achieved fair results (68%), and the rest were ranked average.
