Officials of the Women's Union of Nhon Ai commune, Phong Dien district visited the production and business situation of members who received loan support.
Previously, Ms. Tran Thi Anh's family in Nhon Binh hamlet, Nhon Ai commune was considered poor. Her husband worked as a security guard at a kindergarten, and she did odd jobs. Since 2006, the Commune Women's Union has introduced and supported her with preferential loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), allowing her to expand her production and business model. Ms. Anh said: “Previously, the initial capital was only 3 million VND and was gradually increased through the maturity periods. Thanks to this capital, I invested in breeding pigs, bringing in an income of about 100 million VND per year. In addition, my husband and I also worked hard to buy eucalyptus trees in distant provinces to saw and sell wood and maintain a grocery store at home. Thanks to hard work and savings, my husband and I bought land and built 11 rented rooms. Currently, the income from the rented rooms is about 7 million VND/month; the grocery store earns about 200,000-300,000 VND/day; family life has gradually improved.”
The family of Ms. Dang My Trang in Nhon Tho 2 Hamlet, Nhon Ai Commune, also faced many difficulties in the past. Having no land, the whole family relied on the income from her husband's job as a bricklayer and the small coffee shop and grocery store at her house. Ms. Trang said: "Since the Women's Union of the commune created favorable conditions for preferential loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to develop the economy , my family's life has changed a lot. With the loan capital increasing gradually after each maturity, I expanded the coffee shop, imported more items to sell. Currently, I am continuing to borrow 50 million VND to buy more tables and chairs, and renovate the coffee shop to be more spacious." Currently, Ms. Trang earns 200,000 VND per day.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Dang, President of the Women's Union of Nhon Ai commune, every year, the Women's Union of the commune reviews and grasps the living conditions of its members and women to provide timely and appropriate assistance. The Union creates favorable conditions for women to start businesses; support loans; coordinate with relevant units to organize training courses, transfer science and technology... In particular, the Union focuses on orienting and encouraging members and women to participate in collective economic models; helping women shift the structure of crops and livestock towards increasing product value, bringing high economic efficiency. The Union is effectively maintaining the operation of the "Women growing fruit trees" Cooperative Group in Nhon Binh hamlet with 15 members growing durian, Ha Chau strawberries, mangosteen... with a total area of over 12 hectares, bringing in an average income of 200-300 million VND/household/year; The garment processing association in Nhon Binh hamlet helps 12 women have stable jobs, with an income of 3-4 million VND/person/month; the model "Supporting women in economic development and starting a business" in Nhon Binh hamlet with 50 participating members.
In addition, the Association maintains a women's savings group, attracting 30 members and women to participate with a total outstanding loan of 75 million VND; 14 savings and loan groups from the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding loan of over 41 billion VND, helping over 710 members and women borrow capital for livestock and crop farming, converting production models, and developing the economy. The Commune Women's Union focuses on implementing social security work. From the first half of the 2021-2026 term up to now, on holidays and Tet, the Association has given over 530 gifts to children, members, and women in difficult circumstances with a total value of over 159 million VND; supported the construction of a Warm House for members, worth 50 million VND... Through practical models and activities, the Association has helped 14 poor and near-poor households to escape poverty sustainably.
To make the Association truly a "common home" for women, the Women's Union of Nhon Ai commune organizes extensive and practical emulation movements, mobilizing women of all walks of life to actively participate. Notably, the movement "Women actively study, work creatively, build happy families", the campaign to build 5 no, 3 clean families... has been deployed by the Women's Union of the commune to 100% of branches and groups in many suitable forms. From the first half of the 2021-2026 term up to now, the Union has supported 3,025 households to meet the criteria of 5 no, 3 clean; mobilized the construction of many practical models: "Treatment of waste with compost bins", "Women limit the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic products", "Mobilizing women members to participate in digital transformation", model of preventing domestic violence, club to build happy families...
The activities of the Women's Union of Nhon Ai commune have actively contributed to improving the quality of life of members, creating an environment to unite members, building an increasingly strong Union organization, and promoting local socio-economic development.
