"Improving professional ethics and behavioral culture of journalists in using social networks"

On October 12, the Provincial Journalists Association hosted the 19th Conference of Journalists Associations of the Northern Mountainous and Midland Provinces and Hanoi Capital in 2024 with the theme "Improving professional ethics and behavioral culture of journalists in using social networks". Attending were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of the Vietnam Journalists Association; leaders of the Journalists Associations of Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc provinces, and Hanoi city.

Overview of the workshop.

Over the past time, the Vietnam Journalists Association, provinces and cities have continuously consolidated and developed, improving the quality of their activities; continuing to affirm their important position and role in the Party's revolutionary cause, worthy of being the political - social - professional organization of Vietnamese journalists; gathering, uniting and motivating journalists to promote their creativity, contributing to the construction and development of localities and the revolutionary press of Vietnam; actively propagating the resolutions and directives of the Party, laws and policies of the State; strengthening the building and rectification of the Party, preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization, associated with studying and following the ideology, ethics and style of Ho Chi Minh. To improve the role and quality of activities in the coming time, the Provincial Journalists Associations have determined to perform well the tasks of building a clean, strong and effective Association; Promote education, foster political ideology, professional ethics, and professional expertise for members.

For Cao Bang, the Provincial Journalists Association coordinates with the press management and direction agencies, and press agencies in the province to proactively orient propaganda and press management; support the creation of nearly 30 high-quality press works, contributing to creating a source of works for the annual National Press Awards and specialized press awards, and local press awards. At the same time, criticize negative phenomena and wrongdoings in society, contributing to creating high consensus in society and strengthening the great national unity bloc.

At the workshop, delegates discussed, contributed ideas, and shared experiences to improve the role and quality of activities of the local Journalists Association in the new situation, especially improving professional ethics and behavioral culture of journalists in using social networks.

Speaking at the workshop, the leader of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department affirmed that the organization of the workshop is an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of solidarity of journalists nationwide in general, the midland and mountainous provinces in the North and Hanoi city in particular in carrying out their mission. Along with emulation, learning and effectively implementing the 6 criteria of "Cultural Press Agency", it will continue to build a strong team of journalists. At the same time, it is an opportunity for Cao Bang to introduce and promote the potential, advantages, and characteristics of the province; the press team of the provinces can exchange with the provinces in the region on good and creative practices, helping each other to develop together; it is an opportunity for the team of cadres, reporters, and members to exchange, learn, and exchange experiences, improve their professional qualifications and skills, and meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

On this occasion, the Journalists Association of the Northern Midlands and Mountains and Hanoi City agreed to award the rotating flag to the Journalists Association of Tuyen Quang province to host the 20th conference - 2025.
