Small coastal hamlet will be the new resort tourism capital

According to the Tourism System Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 approved on June 13, 2024 by the Prime Minister , the entire Long Hai - Binh Chau area will become a national tourist area, in which Ho Tram area is the center of this national tourist area. Ho Tram is developing very strongly with many large-scale, international tourism projects.

Ho Tram, in terms of administrative boundaries, is just a small coastal hamlet, in Phuoc Thuan commune, Xuyen Moc district , about 125 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

The General Planning Project of Ho Tram New Urban Area (Xuyen Moc District) until 2045 approved by the Provincial People's Committee on December 4, 2024 determined that Ho Tram New Urban Area will be a coastal tourism urban area, an important economic, service and tourism center of the province and Xuyen Moc District.

Although it has only emerged in recent years, Ho Tram has quickly risen to become a leading service provider and has shaped the high-end tourism brand of the entire region. Not only possessing rare natural advantages with a long, pristine coastline and fresh climate, Ho Tram is also becoming a strategic destination on the southern resort map.

In particular, the Ho Tram - Binh Chau coastal route is considered a "billion-dollar route" when it gathers a series of large-scale tourism real estate projects being invested and built.

This is not only a convergence point of international resort brands but also a new center of tourism trends combining health care, entertainment and sustainable investment. Along with this development momentum, Ho Tram is gradually affirming its position as the new resort tourism capital of the Southeast region.

Proposal to add Ho Tram - Long Thanh expressway

According to the report on the adjusted content of "Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050" (provincial planning), along with Long Thanh International Airport being invested in and expected to be put into operation soon, Ho Tram area is increasingly attracting the attention of investors in the tourism sector, especially high-end resort tourism.

However, one of the major bottlenecks today is that the traffic connection infrastructure from Long Thanh airport to Ho Tram has not been systematically and synchronously planned.

In the previous provincial planning, there was no direct route connecting Long Thanh International Airport with Ho Tram area , leading to the distance and travel time of tourists, especially international tourists and high-end segment, being extended.

Currently, according to the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Planning, connecting traffic mainly relies on many routes combining expressways, national highways and provincial roads, passing through densely populated areas and existing urban areas, causing traffic speed to be limited, travel time to be prolonged, and not creating the necessary convenience for high-quality tourism.

This situation not only affects the investment attractiveness of Ho Tram area but also reduces the development efficiency of the entire economic and tourism dynamic axis in the Southeast of the province, including Long Hai - Binh Chau national tourist area.

Therefore, it is urgent to research, plan and invest in building a fast and direct traffic route from Long Thanh airport to Ho Tram to maximize the potential and advantages of this area, while enhancing the competitiveness of Ba Ria - Vung Tau on the national and regional tourism map.

Ho Tram coastal road

The Department of Finance of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has proposed to add to the provincial planning a project to build a new urban expressway connecting Ho Tram with Long Thanh International Airport. This is a proposal of strategic significance, aiming to meet the urgent need for infrastructure connection between the key coastal tourist area and the largest air transit hub in the southern region in the future.

The addition of planning and investment in the construction of this expressway not only helps shorten the distance and reduce travel time between Ho Tram and Long Thanh airport, but also opens up new urban development space along the modern traffic corridor.

In addition, the route will be an important driving force to promote the development of the coastal urban system in a synchronous and sustainable manner, contributing to the completion of inter-regional infrastructure between Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the Southeast provinces, effectively connecting with the national transport network. This will also be a driving force contributing to ensuring national defense - security, promoting socio-economic development for the whole region, especially the areas the route passes through.

The project's TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) oriented transport development will contribute to the formation of new urban areas and concentrated residential areas, thereby accelerating the urbanization rate and creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable development of the province in the following stages.
