Improving the capacity to diagnose and treat diarrhea in children

In order to improve the diagnostic and treatment capacity of medical staff in the Red River Delta region, the Pediatric Association of the Red River Delta region and Hai Phong Children's Hospital organized a training course on "Update on diagnosis and treatment of diarrhea in children" shared by leading experts in diarrhea.

The program has trained more than 150 gastroenterologists in the Red River Delta region.

On November 14, at Hai Phong Children's Hospital, a pre-conference training program on "Update on diagnosis and treatment of diarrhea in children" took place. The activity is part of a series of events leading up to the 2025 Red River Delta Pediatric Conference taking place on November 15 in Hai Phong city. This is an opportunity for experts and students to update, share and exchange new advances in the diagnosis and treatment of diarrhea, one of the common health problems that greatly affects the development of children.

Attending the program were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Khanh, Honorary President of the Vietnam Pediatric Association; Dr. Phan Huu Phuc, Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital, General Secretary of the Vietnam Pediatric Association; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sang, Vice President of the Hai Phong City Pediatric Association; Dr. Tran Minh Canh, Acting Director of Hai Phong Children's Hospital; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Dr. Hoang Le Phuc, Children's Hospital; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, Hanoi Medical University.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Tran Minh Canh, Acting Director of Hai Phong Children's Hospital, said: "This activity has practical significance, aiming to improve the professional capacity of the medical team in the region, especially ultrasound skills in diagnosing common diseases and updating new advances in the treatment of acute diarrhea in children. This is one of the common diseases, with many dangerous complications if not diagnosed and treated. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to share and learn directly from leading experts, access valuable practical knowledge and experience, contributing to improving the quality of diagnosis, treatment and care for pediatric patients."

The training program attracted the participation of more than 150 students, doctors, and medical staff working at medical units in the Red River Delta region. Here, students were updated on their knowledge of pathophysiology, classification of diarrhea, principles of treatment according to each level of dehydration and treatment measures according to the latest recommendations.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Khanh - Vice President of Vietnam Pediatric Association delivered the opening speech at the training course "Update on diagnosis and treatment of diarrhea in children"

In addition, the lecturer introduced the GPT Custom application in the approach to diagnosis and treatment, supporting doctors in screening symptoms, classifying diseases and suggesting treatment approaches to improve the accuracy and effectiveness in caring for children with diarrhea. At the same time, he pointed out common problems such as irritable bowel syndrome in children.

Through the program, delegates were updated, exchanged knowledge and professional experience in diagnosis, treatment and care of children's health, strengthened cooperative relationships, shared expertise with Children's Hospitals in the Red River Delta region and pediatric facilities nationwide. At the same time, improved professional capacity for medical staff, contributing to protecting children's health in Hai Phong.
