In order to transform potential into sustainable economic value, the province is focusing on improving product quality, perfecting production processes and promoting trade in a synchronous manner.

In Nam Yang commune (Dak Doa district), Mr. Huynh Mau is one of the pioneers applying organic farming methods on an area of over 20 hectares of pepper and durian. “Thanks to strictly following the US Control Union standards, my agricultural products have been purchased by a business in Bac Ninh at a price higher than the market price,” Mr. Mau shared.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Doa district, in order to meet market demand and increase the value of agricultural products, the district has built many raw material areas that meet export standards.

Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment approve the location to build a logistics center in the district to support the transportation and consumption of agricultural products.

At the same time, cooperatives such as Nam Yang Agricultural and Service Cooperative and Dak Rong Agricultural and Service Cooperative have also been invested in infrastructure including internal roads and concrete drying yards to serve the processing of high-quality coffee. Thanks to that, many local products have achieved export quality, gradually affirming their position in the international market.

In recent years, Chu Pah district has also been a typical locality in applying high technology to agricultural production. Mr. Le Xuan Dung - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment - informed: The application of high technology to agricultural production not only improves productivity and product quality but also opens up many opportunities for local agricultural products to reach out to domestic and foreign markets.

In the period of 2021-2025, the district has implemented the Project on developing high-tech agriculture, building 60 models in 9 communes and towns. Typical examples include: growing melons in greenhouses (Ia Nhin and Ia Ka communes, Phu Hoa town); growing durian and coffee using water-saving irrigation and biotechnology; raising striped catfish, tilapia, and tilapia using aeration technology; applying sprinkler irrigation for fruit trees and coffee in Nghia Hung and Ia Nhin communes, Phu Hoa town...

To ensure product quality, the provincial Department of Agriculture has strengthened guidance for people and cooperatives to apply VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards in production; at the same time, supporting the development of codes for growing areas and standard packaging facilities to serve the traceability of products. Up to now, Gia Lai has 227 codes for growing areas and 38 codes for packaging facilities serving export. Districts such as Dak Doa, Chu Prong, Ia Grai, and Chu Pah have formed specialized areas for large-scale crops, applying high technology in cultivation and post-harvest preservation.

Mr. Doan Ngoc Co - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - commented: "Agricultural production must be linked to the market. If you want your products to go far, in addition to quality, they must have traceability records, certification, and product stories. Organizations, businesses, cooperatives, and people must master the process from input to output."

However, most agricultural products in the province are still facing difficulties in branding, packaging, labeling, and traceability. The output of agricultural products is still facing many difficulties as they are mainly consumed in the provincial market and have not yet expanded to the outside.

Faced with this situation, the province has promoted trade connections, supported digital promotion and participated in domestic agricultural fairs. The province's e-commerce platform has now linked with nearly 150 enterprises and cooperatives to introduce and consume local specialties. In addition, the province's OCOP products have also been introduced to supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide.

However, according to feedback from many OCOP entities, trade promotion activities are still scattered and lack depth; the market access skills of small enterprises and cooperatives are still limited. Some products have good quality but do not have appropriate marketing strategies, so they are difficult to compete.

To improve agricultural products, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: The Department will continue to advise on implementing key solutions such as: improving production capacity; enhancing training and technology transfer; supporting farmers and cooperatives to produce according to safe and organic standards.

At the same time, bring high-quality products to e-commerce platforms, build product images associated with the locality; diversify consumption markets, aim for official exports and participate in domestic and foreign supply chains. In addition, the Department will also support cooperatives and enterprises in promotion skills, connecting partners and protecting intellectual property rights for products.
