Over the years, Thach That district has always paid attention to, invested in and implemented synchronous solutions to effectively carry out population work, including elderly health care activities, promoting the role of the elderly in the community. There are more than 33,733 elderly people in the district, accounting for 14.6% of the population.
Authorities at all levels from district to commune always care about the elderly by organizing conferences to wish them longevity, visit them, and give them gifts on the occasion of their birthdays and the coming of Tet.
On holidays and anniversaries of the elderly, district authorities at all levels have organized meetings to give timely gifts to encourage generations of the elderly. Policies for the elderly are taken care of and implemented in accordance with regulations: 100% of the elderly are subjects of social protection, near-poor households, people in difficult circumstances, people over 80 years old are entitled to subsidies according to regulations. Elderly health care activities are also effectively implemented such as: The elderly health care model is maintained and implemented in 23/23 communes and towns. In the first 9 months of the year, 68 communication sessions on health care for the elderly were organized, with a total of 5,815 elderly people attending, promptly providing basic knowledge to help the elderly improve their health, prevent diseases, live happily, live healthily... Health check-ups for the elderly are always given special attention, every year over 90% of the elderly receive regular health check-ups at least once a year/person.

At the Conference to honor the elderly who encourage their children and grandchildren to implement population policies well, and be filial to their children and grandchildren on the occasion of the International Day of the Elderly (October 1) and the Month of Action for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2024, which was held for the first time: 90 typical elderly people representing more than 30,000 elderly people in the district were honored. With the contributions of each elderly person in the family, the locality has actively contributed to the movement "Elderly people are good examples", mobilizing children and grandchildren, and people in the community to implement well the policies of the Party and the Law of the State, including implementing well the population policy, building a happy and prosperous family, contributing to the sustainable development of the locality and the country./.
