New Zealand wins Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship

The 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship ended on the afternoon of April 28 in Tuy Hoa City (Phu Yen), with victory for athletes from New Zealand.

On the afternoon of April 28, at Tuy Hoa City beach, the Asian Volleyball Federation in coordination with the People's Committee of Phu Yen province and Cong May Joint Stock Company held the closing ceremony of the 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship.

After days of exciting competition, the tournament ended with a convincing victory for the New Zealand women's team.

In the final, the girls from New Zealand excellently defeated the Thai team with a score of 2-0, winning the championship.

The third prize winner is Australia 2, the fourth prize winner is Australia 1.

New Zealand's Shaunna Polley was named "Player of the Tournament".

Athlete Shaunna Polley shared: "I am extremely surprised and happy to participate in this tournament. I sincerely thank the organizers for creating the conditions for us to have the opportunity to compete and achieve great success like today. I really love the climate and people in your land."

This year's tournament takes place from April 25 to 28 with 44 athletes from 22 teams from 10 countries and territories in Asia, including: Vietnam, Australia, Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Vanuatu and Hong Kong (China).

Host Vietnam has 4 participating teams, with 8 athletes who are the core force of the national team in the process of preparing for the upcoming SEA Games.

Mr. Dao My - Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee - said that during the competition, the athletes had impressions of the land and people of Phu Yen, in addition to the meticulousness and professionalism in coordinating the organization of the tournament.

"The tournament is an opportunity to introduce tourists to the beauty of Phu Yen. Through this volleyball tournament, we will improve the organization to raise the level of organizing events on a larger scale in the future," said Mr. My.
