According to Mr. Gordeyev, Russian forces also destroyed "two of the enemy's many howitzers deployed near the settlements of Dobrovolye and Preobrazhenka".
On the same day, Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine, Mr. Andriy Yermak, announced that three senior US security officials had made phone calls with a group of Ukrainian officials to discuss military support for this Eastern European country.
"We discussed providing our country with additional necessary assistance, in particular vehicles, weapons and ammunition," Yermak said in a Telegram post. Yermak, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, top general Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and several other senior Ukrainian commanders and officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, top military general Mark Milley, and national security adviser Jake Sullivan represented the US side. Mr. Yermak did not mention the specific proposal that Ukraine presented to the US side.
"We briefed our allies on the current situation on the ground, combat operations in the most difficult areas, as well as the urgent needs of the Ukrainian army," Mr. Yermak added.
