Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requires units and schools to seriously implement the directives and instructions of the City People's Committee, departments and localities on natural disaster and flood prevention.
Check and take measures to ensure the safety of assets and equipment at the workplace and in areas that may be affected by heavy rain and strong winds. Organize plans to protect constructions, especially degraded constructions and unfinished constructions.
Support and trim trees in the campus; check ceiling fan systems, electrical equipment, electrical wires, and telecommunication cables to ensure safe heights and no danger when walking. Check and support fences, gates, ceilings, and roofs; preserve teaching equipment, books, library materials, etc. Provide means to respond to natural disasters.
For schools located in flooded or low-lying areas, or with unsafe structures or bridges that may cause danger, there must be warning signs of dangerous and flooded areas; and there must be a plan to move assets and documents to a safe location.
Assign relevant departments to be on duty 24/7 to be ready to respond to any arising situations. When an incident or problem arises (before, during and after the storm), promptly report to the department and local leaders for handling instructions.
Regularly update information on storm and heavy rain developments; maintain communication through multiple channels to inform students, parents, teachers, and workers at the unit to proactively respond safely.
Chairmen of People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones; heads of schools and centers under the Department regularly monitor and decide, based on the actual situation in the locality and region, to allow preschool children, students, and trainees to take time off from school (if necessary). Inform and monitor the Department leaders.
Vocational training institutions and private universities and colleges shall, based on the actual situation, proactively decide on student attendance.
At the same time, based on the actual situation and conditions, proactively develop plans to organize online teaching and learning when students cannot go to school in areas affected by landslides and flash floods; and areas flooded during days of complicated rain and storms.
Urgently clean up and sanitize schools and classrooms after the storm, when the water recedes and the rain stops so that preschool children, students and trainees can return to school soon. At the same time, quickly inform the department or specific contacts about any issues arising in storm prevention and control.
